| 85:1 | | By the sky, with its constellations of stars | | 85:2 | | And by the Day [of Judgment] promised | | 85:3 | | And witness [giving evidence in favour of or against anything on the Judgment Day] and those for or against whom the witness is giving evidence | | 85:4 | | Damned are the owners of the dit | | 85:5 | | Of the fuel-filled fire | | 85:6 | | When they sat by i | | 85:7 | | And witnessed what they did to the believers! | | 85:8 | | And they took vengeance on them for nothing else but that they believed in Allah, the Omnipotent, the Embodiment of Praise | | 85:9 | | To Whom belongs the Absolute Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Witness to all things | | 85:10 | | Surely indeed, those who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not — for them will be the punishment of Hell, and for them the punishment by the Fire | | 85:11 | | Surely indeed, those who believe and do good deeds — for them will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Greatest Success | | 85:12 | | Indeed, the Hold of your Lord is certainly severe | | 85:13 | | It is He indeed Who does the original creation, and Who is capable of resurrecting His original creation when it is dead | | 85:14 | | And He is the One Forgiving, Loving | | 85:15 | | Lord of the Glorious Throne | | 85:16 | | HE does what He wills | | 85:17 | | Have you come to know the story of the armie | | 85:18 | | Of Pharaoh and of (the ancient tribe of) Thamood | | 85:19 | | Yet, [despite knowing the story of how those ancient peoples were destroyed for their transgressions] those that suppress the Truth live in denial | | 85:20 | | And Allah surrounds them unawares | | 85:21 | | Nay, [non-believers' denial notwithstanding,] this is a glorious Qur'an | | 85:22 | | In a well-protected format |
