| 77:1 | | By the emissaries [winds], recognized by feel [blowing gently], |
| 77:2 | | Then by the storms blowing violently |
| 77:3 | | By those [winds] that scatter [clouds] far and wide |
| 77:4 | | Then by those [winds] that make an uneven distribution [of rain-bearing clouds] |
| 77:5 | | Then by those [winds] that bring down what is often talked of [rains |
| 77:6 | | As excuse for or harbinger of calamity |
| 77:7 | | What you are promised [Day of Resurrection/Judgment] is indeed inevitable |
| 77:8 | | So when the stars are extinguished |
| 77:9 | | And when the sky is torn asunder |
| 77:10 | | And when the mountains are brought down |
| 77:11 | | And when the Messengers are presented at the time appointed &mdash |
| 77:12 | | For what day is the time fixed |
| 77:13 | | For the Day of Decision |
| 77:14 | | And what do you understand what the Day of Decision is |
| 77:15 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:16 | | Did We not destroy the earlier generations |
| 77:17 | | And then caused the later generations to follow them |
| 77:18 | | Thus do We deal with the sinners |
| 77:19 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:20 | | Did We not create you from a filthy fluid |
| 77:21 | | And then placed it [fertilized ovum] in a safe abode [womb |
| 77:22 | | For a known period of time [nine months and some days, normally] |
| 77:23 | | We then fixed terms [for everything in man's life]. And We are the best in fixing terms |
| 77:24 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:25 | | Have We not made the earth, accommodatin |
| 77:26 | | The living and the dead |
| 77:27 | | And [have We not] placed therein lofty mountains and given you sweet water to drink |
| 77:28 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:29 | | "Proceed now to what (Hereafter) you had been denying!" |
| 77:30 | | "Proceed now to the three-tier shadow [— of death, Resurrection, and divine Judgment]!" |
| 77:31 | | (The shadow provides) no relief nor shelter from the Blazing Fire [of Hell] |
| 77:32 | | It does indeed throw up sparks like burning logs of fire-wood |
| 77:33 | | [Or] like thick yellow ropes |
| 77:34 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:35 | | This Day they speak not |
| 77:36 | | Nor are they permitted to put up excuses |
| 77:37 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:38 | | This is the Day of Decision. We have brought you and the people living in the world earlier, together |
| 77:39 | | If now you have any scheme, dare to use it against Me |
| 77:40 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:41 | | Pious persons are amidst shades and fountains |
| 77:42 | | And [they get] fruits such as they desire |
| 77:43 | | "Eat and drink to your satisfaction as a reward for your [good] deeds." |
| 77:44 | | Thus indeed do We reward the good |
| 77:45 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:46 | | Eat and enjoy but little. You are sinners indeed |
| 77:47 | | Woe that Day [Hereafter] for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:48 | | And when they are told to bow down, they bow not down |
| 77:49 | | Woe that Day for those who had denied the Truth |
| 77:50 | | What hadeeth would they then believe in after this |
