| | Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim rendition of Surah The Emissaries, Winds Sent Forth(al-Mursalat) --- |
---|
77:1 | | By the winds blowing in any of the four directions and of gradual degrees of force perceptible to the senses |
77:2 | | Then they become high, causing violent disturbance of the atmosphere and may engender a storm |
77:3 | | and by the winds carrying clouds* floating at various heights and scatter them and drift them to where a nimbus must form |
77:4 | | and by the angels carrying Allah's Messages to His Messengers heralding the standard by which anything is judged right or wrong, virtuous or immoral, permissible or forbidden |
77:5 | | Then they disclose to them -to the Messengers- Allah's revelations and ordinances which inspirit the faith |
77:6 | | To admonish the responsive who opens his hearts' ears and warn the irresponsive, who turns a deaf ear |
77:7 | | That all that you have been promised, from resurrection to judgment and paying off the equivalent will come to pass |
77:8 | | When the stars are dimmed and emit no light, |
77:9 | | And the heaven is split asunder |
77:10 | | And the mountains melt and disappear out of sight |
77:11 | | and at a later deferred date shall all the Messengers be made to convene |
77:12 | | But as to which day has the Messengers convention been postponed and when will it then be made to supervene |
77:13 | | It has been postponed until the Day of decision and adjudication |
77:14 | | You just do not know what this Day of decision and adjudication is like |
77:15 | | Woe then, to those who looked upon the truth as manifest falsification |
77:16 | | Did We not destroy those who charged Our Messengers with falsehood among the predecessors |
77:17 | | and in like manner did We destroy the successors |
77:18 | | Thus do We requite people given to sin |
77:19 | | Woe then, to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:20 | | Did We not bring you into being from a contemptible fluid, an ejaculation |
77:21 | | Fluid whose product, the fertilized seed,* We embedded in the depth of a safe and secure situation (the womb) |
77:22 | | For a determined period of gestation |
77:23 | | We then determined, besides the span of this period, the relevant constitution and how right is the determination |
77:24 | | Woe then, to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:25 | | Did We not make the earth widely spread, |
77:26 | | To accommodate the living and the dead |
77:27 | | Did We not establish therein firm mountains* to afford stabilization, and furnish you with a supply of fresh water from springs, rain fall and other sources, each, in a blessed stead |
77:28 | | Woe then, to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:29 | | There and then shall the wicked be told "Now suffer the consequence of what you denied and treated as falsehood" |
77:30 | | "Go to the blaze, with its fumes and scarlet shade and its flames that are shooting out in three colossal branches" |
77:31 | | Which neither screen, nor hide nor protect from the heat or from the blazing flames streaming in avalanches |
77:32 | | Fire throwing off sparks as immense as the fortress |
77:33 | | Sparks looking like huge implements covered with copper troubling the infidels grievously and subjecting them to a severe distress |
77:34 | | Woe then to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of what is false |
77:35 | | This is the Day they are dumbfounded and unable to talk |
77:36 | | Nor are they permitted to plea in justification of their deeds of inequity nor of the deeds which with their words did not accor |
77:37 | | Woe. then to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:38 | | This is the Day of decision and adjudication, and thereon will We throng you all including all who came before |
77:39 | | Now if you have a plan to evade judgment, conduct it to conclusion if you can |
77:40 | | Woe then to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of what is false |
77:41 | | But the righteous who keep Allah in mind with bosoms filled with reverential awe are amidst cool shades and spectacular springs |
77:42 | | and delicious fruits to their hearts’ desire and all that righteousness merits and the felicity it brings |
77:43 | | They shall be told: "Eat and drink and enjoy all that affords pleasure in return for your deeds and actions which involved effort directed to a definite and commendable end." |
77:44 | | For thus do We reward those whose deeds are imprinted with wisdom and piety and the benevolence they spend |
77:45 | | Woe then, to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:46 | | You infidels may eat and enjoy yourselves here, but the span is short and then your iniquities shall be laid to your charge |
77:47 | | Woe to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of falsehood |
77:48 | | When told to engage in the act of worship and to humble themselves to Allah and bow down to Him in adoration, they refuse |
77:49 | | Woe then. to those who looked upon the truth as an intentional assertion of what is false, for nothing then will serve as an excuse |
77:50 | | What then will convince them if this Quran does not |
