| 71:1 | | WE sent Noah to his people, with the commandment: `Warn thy people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment. |
| 71:2 | | He said, `O my people ! surely, I am a plain Warner unto you |
| 71:3 | | `That you serve ALLAH and be mindful of your duty to HIM and obey me |
| 71:4 | | `HE will forgive you your sins and grant you respite till an appointed time.' Verily, the time appointed by ALLAH cannot be put off when it comes, if only you knew |
| 71:5 | | He said, `My Lord, I have called my people night and day |
| 71:6 | | `But my calling them has only made them flee from me all the more |
| 71:7 | | `And every time I called them that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers into their ears, and drew close their garments, and persisted in their iniquities and were disdainfully proud |
| 71:8 | | `Then, I called them to righteousness openly |
| 71:9 | | `Then preached to them in public, an appealed to them in private. |
| 71:10 | | And I said, `Seek forgiveness of your Lord; for HE is the Great Forgiver |
| 71:11 | | `HE will send down rain for you in abundance |
| 71:12 | | `And HE will grant you increase of wealth and children, and will cause gardens to grow for you and will cause rivers to flow for you |
| 71:13 | | `What is the matter with you that you hope not for greatness and wisdom from ALLAH |
| 71:14 | | `And HE has created you in different forms and different conditions |
| 71:15 | | `See you not how ALLAH has created seven heavens in perfect harmony |
| 71:16 | | `And has placed the moon, therein a light, and made the sun a lamp |
| 71:17 | | `And ALLAH has caused you to grow out of the earth as a good growth |
| 71:18 | | `Then HE will cause you to return thereto, and HE will bring you forth a new bringing forth |
| 71:19 | | `And ALLAH has made the earth for you a wide expanse |
| 71:20 | | `That you may traverse the spacious ways thereof. |
| 71:21 | | Then Noah said, `My Lord, they have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and children have only added to his loss |
| 71:22 | | `And they planned a mighty plan. |
| 71:23 | | `And they say to one another `Forsake not your gods, and forsake neither Wadd nor Suwa, nor Yaghhth and Ya`hq and Nasr. |
| 71:24 | | `And they have led many astray; so increase Thou not the wrongdoers in aught but error. |
| 71:25 | | Because of their sins they were drowned and made to enter Fire. And they found no helpers for themselves against ALLAH |
| 71:26 | | And Noah said, `My Lord, leave not of the disbelievers even one dweller in the land |
| 71:27 | | `For, if thou dost leave them, they will only lead astray Thy servants and will beget none but sinners and disbelievers |
| 71:28 | | `My Lord ! forgive me and my parents, and him who enters my house as a believer, and the believing men and the believing women; and increase Thou not the wrongdoers in aught but in ruin. |
