| | A.L. Bilal Muhammad et al (2018) rendition of Surah The Reality, The Inevitable(al-Haqqah) --- |
---|
69:1 | | The sure reality |
69:2 | | What is the sure reality |
69:3 | | And what will cause you to realize what the sure reality is |
69:4 | | The Thamud and the ‘Ad people branded as false the stunning calamity |
69:5 | | But the Thamud, they were caused to perish, by a terrible storm |
69:6 | | And the ‘Ad, they were caused to perish by a furious wind, extremely violent |
69:7 | | He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession. So that you could see the people lying prostrate in its path, as if they had been roots of hollow palm trees tumbled down |
69:8 | | Do you see then any of them left surviving |
69:9 | | And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the cities overthrown, committed habitual, harmful deeds |
69:10 | | And they did not follow the messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a sufficient penalty |
69:11 | | We, when the water overflowed beyond its limits, carried you in the Ark |
69:12 | | That We might make it a message for you, and that ears which hear the tale retain it to memory, and bear its lessons in mind |
69:13 | | Then when a single trumpet is blown |
69:14 | | And the earth and its mountains are moved, and they are crushed to powder with a single pound |
69:15 | | On that day will the Event come to pass |
69:16 | | And the universe will be rent asunder, for it will be flimsy that day |
69:17 | | And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will that day, bear the throne of your Lord above them |
69:18 | | That day you will be brought to Judgment. Not an act of yours that you hide will be hidden |
69:19 | | Then he, who will be given his record in his right hand will say, “Ah here, read my record |
69:20 | | “I indeed understood that my account would reach me. |
69:21 | | And he will be in a life of bliss |
69:22 | | In a garden on high |
69:23 | | Fruits hanging low and near |
69:24 | | “Eat and drink with full satisfaction, because of that which you sent before you, in days gone by. |
69:25 | | And he who will be given his record in his left hand will say, “I wish that my record had not been given to me |
69:26 | | “And that I had never realized how my account stood |
69:27 | | “I wish that death had been the end of me |
69:28 | | “Of no profit to me is my wealth |
69:29 | | “My power has vanished from me. |
69:30 | | Then it will be said, “Seize him and bind him |
69:31 | | “And burn him in the blazing fire |
69:32 | | “Further, make him march in a chain-gang, with a length of seventy cubits |
69:33 | | “This was he who would not believe in God, Most High |
69:34 | | “And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent |
69:35 | | “So no friend has he here this day |
69:36 | | “Nor has he any food, except of what remains from the washing of wounds |
69:37 | | “Which none eat but the wrong-doers. |
69:38 | | So I call to witness what you see |
69:39 | | And what you see not |
69:40 | | That this is indeed the word of an honored messenger |
69:41 | | It is not the word of a poet. Little is it you believe |
69:42 | | Nor is it the word of an oracle. Little advice is it you receive |
69:43 | | A message sent down from the Lord of all worlds |
69:44 | | And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name |
69:45 | | We would certainly seize him by his right hand |
69:46 | | Then We would certainly cut off the artery of his heart |
69:47 | | Nor could any of you protect him |
69:48 | | But indeed this is a message for those who are conscious |
69:49 | | And We certainly know that there are among you those who reject it |
69:50 | | But truly it is a cause of sorrow for the unbelievers |
69:51 | | But indeed it is certainly true |
69:52 | | So glorify the name of your Lord, Most High |
