| | Linda “iLHam” Barto rendition of Surah The Sovereignty, Control, The Kingdom(al-Mulk) --- |
---|
67:1 | | Blessed is He who has dominion in His hands. He has power over all things. |
67:2 | | He created death and life so He may test which among you are best in deeds. He is the Victorious, the Most Forgiving. |
67:3 | | He created seven [layers of] skies, one above another. You will see no flaw in the creation of the Most Gracious. Look again. Do you see any defect? |
67:4 | | Look another time. Your vision will return to you blurred and tired. |
67:5 | | We have adorned the nearest sky with lamps [stars, planets, and moons]. We have made some of them as missiles [shooting stars] to scare away the demons. [We] have prepared for them the penalty of the blazing fire. |
67:6 | | For those who reject their Lord, there is the penalty of Hell. That destination is wretched. |
67:7 | | When they are thrown into it, they will hear the heaving of its breath, even as it blazes forth. |
67:8 | | It will almost burst with fury. Every time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, “Did no advisor come to you?” |
67:9 | | They will say, “Yes, indeed; an advisor did come to us, but we rejected him and said, ‘Allah never sent down any message. You are only in strange delusion.’” |
67:10 | | They will further say, “If we had only listened or used our brains, we would not be among the companions of the blazing fire.” |
67:11 | | They will then realize their sins, so away with the companions of the blazing fire! |
67:12 | | For those who fear their unseen Lord, there is forgiveness and a great reward. |
67:13 | | Whether you conceal your word or proclaim it, He is certainly the All-knowing over what is within hearts. |
67:14 | | Wouldn’t He know? He is the One who created. He is the Subtle One, the Fully Aware. |
67:15 | | It is He who has made the earth to be of service for you. Travel on its roads and eat of His provision. Unto Him is the Resurrection. |
67:16 | | Do you feel secure that He who is in Heaven will not cause you to be swallowed by the earth when it shakes [with an earthquake]? |
67:17 | | Do you feel secure that He who is in Heaven will not send against you a violent storm so that you will know My warning? |
67:18 | | Certainly, people before them rejected [the warnings]. How terrible was My rejection [of them]! |
67:19 | | Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? No one can hold them up except the Most Gracious. Truly, He watches over all things. |
67:20 | | Who is there who can help you, like an army, besides the Most Merciful? The unbelievers are only in delusion. |
67:21 | | Who is there who can provide you with sustenance if He were to withhold His provision? Bunk! They persist in pride and rebellion. |
67:22 | | Is one who walks stumbling, falling on his/her face, better guided, or one who walks evenly on the Straight Way? |
67:23 | | Say, “He created you and provided for you the senses of hearing, seeing, feeling, and perceiving. You give little thanks.” |
67:24 | | Say, “He multiplied you across the earth, and to Him you will be assembled.” |
67:25 | | (Scoffers) ask, “When will the promise [of the Day of Judgment] be realized, if you are telling the truth?” |
67:26 | | Say, “Such knowledge is with Allah alone. I am only one who gives fair warning.” |
67:27 | | When they see it quickly approaching, the faces of the unbelievers will show distress. It will be said, “This is it –what you beckoned!” |
67:28 | | Say, “Consider this: Whether Allah destroys me and those with me or bestows His mercy on us, who can deliver the unbelievers from a horrendous penalty?” |
67:29 | | Say, “He is the Most Gracious; we have believed in Him, and on Him we have put our trust. Soon you will know who of us [believers or unbelievers] are wrong.” |
67:30 | | Say, “Don’t you understand? If some morning your water supply is suddenly lost into the earth, who then can restore your flow of water?” |
