| 53:1 | | By the star when it falls |
| 53:2 | | You companion has neither erred, nor has he gone astray |
| 53:3 | | Nor does he speak out of his own desire |
| 53:4 | | It is nothing but pure revelation revealed by God |
| 53:5 | | The Lord of the Mighty Powers has taught him |
| 53:6 | | The One Possessor of Powers which manifest themselves repeatedly. So HE settled Himself on the Throne |
| 53:7 | | And HE revealed His Word when he was on the uppermost horizon |
| 53:8 | | Then the Prophet drew near to ALLAH; then ALLAH leaned down towards him |
| 53:9 | | So that HE became, as it were, one chord to two bows, or closer still |
| 53:10 | | Then ALLAH revealed to HIS servant that which HE revealed |
| 53:11 | | The heart of the Prophet lied not in seeing what he saw |
| 53:12 | | Will you, then, dispute with him about what he saw |
| 53:13 | | And, certainly, he saw him a second time |
| 53:14 | | Near the farthest lote tree |
| 53:15 | | Near which is the Garden of Eternal abode |
| 53:16 | | This was when that, which covers, covered the lote-tree |
| 53:17 | | The eye deviated not, nor did it wander |
| 53:18 | | Surely, he saw the greatest of the Signs of his Lord |
| 53:19 | | Now tell me about Lat and Uzzh |
| 53:20 | | And Manat, the third one, another goddess |
| 53:21 | | `What ! for you the males and for Him the females? |
| 53:22 | | That, indeed is an unfair division |
| 53:23 | | These are but names which you have named - you and your fathers - for which ALLAH has sent down no authority. They follow naught but conjecture and what their souls desire, while there has already come to them guidance from their Lord |
| 53:24 | | Can man have whatever he desires |
| 53:25 | | Nay, to ALLAH belong the Hereafter and this world |
| 53:26 | | And how many an angel is there in the heavens, but their intercession shall be of no avail, except after ALLAH gives permission to whomsoever HE wills and pleases |
| 53:27 | | Those, who believe not in the Hereafter, give the angels female names |
| 53:28 | | But they have no knowledge thereof. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails naught against truth |
| 53:29 | | So turn away from him who turns his back upon Our remembrance, and seeks nothing but the life of this world |
| 53:30 | | That is the utmost limit of their knowledge. Verily, thy Lord knows best him who strays away from His way, and HE knows best him who follows guidance |
| 53:31 | | And to ALLAH belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that HE may requite those who do evil according to what they have wrought and reward those who do good with what is best |
| 53:32 | | Those who shun the grave sins and all indecencies except minor faults. Verily, thy Lord is Master of vast forgiveness. HE knows you well from the time when HE created you from the earth, and when you were embryos in the bellies of your mothers. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. HE knows him best who is truly righteous |
| 53:33 | | Seest thou him who turns away from guidance |
| 53:34 | | And gives a little, and does it grudgingly |
| 53:35 | | Has he the knowledge of the unseen, so that he can see his own end |
| 53:36 | | Has he not been informed of what is in the Scriptures of Moses |
| 53:37 | | And of Abraham who fulfilled the divine commandments |
| 53:38 | | That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another |
| 53:39 | | And that man will have nothing but what he strives for |
| 53:40 | | And that the result of his striving shall soon be known |
| 53:41 | | Then will he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward |
| 53:42 | | And that with thy Lord is the final judgment |
| 53:43 | | And that it is HE WHO makes people laugh and makes them weep |
| 53:44 | | And that it is HE Who causes death and gives life |
| 53:45 | | And that HE creates the pairs, male and female |
| 53:46 | | From a sperm drop when it is emitted |
| 53:47 | | And that it is for him to bring forth the second creation |
| 53:48 | | And that it is HE Who enriches and gives contentment |
| 53:49 | | And that HE is the Lord of Sirius |
| 53:50 | | And that HE destroyed the first tribe of Ad |
| 53:51 | | And the tribe of Thamud and HE spared no one |
| 53:52 | | And HE destroyed the people of Noah before them - verily, they were most unjust and most rebellious |
| 53:53 | | And HE overthrew the subverted cities of the people of Lot |
| 53:54 | | So that there covered them that which covered |
| 53:55 | | Which, then, O man, of the bounties of thy Lord wilt thou dispute |
| 53:56 | | This Messenger of Ours is a Warner like the Warners of Old |
| 53:57 | | The Hour of Judgment which was to come has drawn nigh |
| 53:58 | | None but ALLAH can avert it |
| 53:59 | | Do you, then, wonder at this announcement |
| 53:60 | | And do you laugh and weep not |
| 53:61 | | While you make merry |
| 53:62 | | So prostrate yourselves before ALLAH and worship HIM |
