| 52:1 | | By the mountain |
| 52:2 | | By a decree inscribed |
| 52:3 | | In parchment unfolded |
| 52:4 | | By the much-frequented house |
| 52:5 | | By the canopy raised high |
| 52:6 | | And by the ocean that is filled |
| 52:7 | | Indeed the doom from your Lord will indeed come to pass |
| 52:8 | | There are none who can avert it |
| 52:9 | | On the day that the firmament will be in dreadful commotion |
| 52:10 | | And the mountains will fly near and far |
| 52:11 | | Then woe that day to those who treat truth as falsehood |
| 52:12 | | That play in shallow things |
| 52:13 | | That day they will be thrust down to the fire of hell, irresistibly |
| 52:14 | | “This,” it will be said, “Is the fire that you used to deny |
| 52:15 | | “Is this then a fake, or is it you who do not see |
| 52:16 | | “Burn therein, for it is the same whether you bear it with patience or not. You will receive the reward of your deeds. |
| 52:17 | | As for the righteous, they will be in gardens, and in happiness |
| 52:18 | | Enjoying the bliss that their Lord has bestowed on them. And their Lord will deliver them from the penalty of the fire |
| 52:19 | | Eat and drink for enjoyment and health, because of your deeds |
| 52:20 | | They will recline on thrones arranged in ranks, and We will join them to companions with beautiful eyes |
| 52:21 | | And those who believe and whose family follow them in faith, We will join them with their family, and We will not deprive them of any of their works, each person is responsible for their deeds |
| 52:22 | | And We will give them all fruit and meat, anything they desire |
| 52:23 | | There they will exchange, one with another, a cup free of nonsense, and free of harm |
| 52:24 | | Around them will be youthfulness, like pearls well guarded |
| 52:25 | | They will advance each other, engaging in mutual inquiry |
| 52:26 | | They will say, “Before, we were not without fear, because of our people |
| 52:27 | | “But God has been good to us, and has delivered us from the penalty of the scorching wind |
| 52:28 | | “Indeed we used to call on Him. Truly it is He, the Merciful Benefactor, the Merciful Redeemer. |
| 52:29 | | Therefore proclaim His praises, for by the grace of your Lord, you are no oracle, nor are you one possessed |
| 52:30 | | Or do they call you a poet? We await them with calamity in due time. |
| 52:31 | | Say, “Wait, I too will wait with you. |
| 52:32 | | Is it that their mind leads them to this, or are they just a people transgressing beyond bounds |
| 52:33 | | Or do they say, “He fabricated the message?” No, they have no faith |
| 52:34 | | Let them produce a hadith like it, if they speak the truth |
| 52:35 | | Were they created of nothing, or did they create themselves |
| 52:36 | | Or did they create the heavens and the earth? No, they have no firm beliefs |
| 52:37 | | Or are the treasures of your Lord with them, or are they the managers |
| 52:38 | | Or have they a ladder, by which they can listen? Then let such a listener produce clear proof |
| 52:39 | | Or has He only daughters and you have sons |
| 52:40 | | Or is it that you ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt |
| 52:41 | | Or is the unknown in their hands, and they write it down |
| 52:42 | | Or do they plot and scheme? But those who defy God are themselves the subject of a plan |
| 52:43 | | Or do they have a god other than God. Exalted is God, far above the things they associate with Him |
| 52:44 | | If they saw a piece of the sky falling, they would say, “Fog-clouds gathered in heaps. |
| 52:45 | | So leave them alone until they encounter that day of theirs, when they will faint |
| 52:46 | | The day when their plotting will not avail them, and no help will be given to them |
| 52:47 | | And indeed, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this, but most of them do not understand |
| 52:48 | | Now wait in patience, the command of your Lord, for indeed you are in Our Eyes, and glorify your Lord with praise while you stand forth |
| 52:49 | | And for part of the night praise Him, and at the retreat of the stars |
