| | Linda “iLHam” Barto rendition of Surah Victory, Conquest(al-Fath) --- |
---|
48:1 | | Truly, We granted you [Muhammed and comrades] a manifest victory. |
48:2 | | Allah may forgive you for the sins of your past and future. [He may] fulfill His favor to you, and guide you on the Straight Way. |
48:3 | | Allah makes you victorious with prevailing support. |
48:4 | | Allah sent tranquility into the hearts of the believers so they may layer faith onto their faith. To Allah belong the physics of the skies and Earth. Allah is the All-knowing, the Perfectly Wise. |
48:5 | | [He will] admit believing men and women to Paradise, where underground rivers flow, wherein they will live forever. He will blot any sins from them. In the sight of Allah is the highest goal. |
48:6 | | He will punish the hypocritical men and women, the polytheistic men and women who imagine an evil opinion of Allah. Evil surrounds them, and the wrath of Allah is upon them. He has condemned them and prepared Hell for them. Their destination is dreadful! |
48:7 | | To Allah belong the physics of the skies and Earth, and Allah is Victorious, Perfectly Wise. |
48:8 | | We have sent you [Prophet Muhammed] as a witness, as a bringer of good news, and as a warner. |
48:9 | | [This is] so that (humanity) may believe in Allah and His messenger. [This is so that you] may assist and honor Him, and glorify Him morning and evening. |
48:10 | | Truly, those who pledge their allegiance to you [Prophet Muhammed] in actuality pledge their allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. Anyone who violates his/her oath does so to the harm of his/her own soul. Anyone who fulfills what he/she has covenanted with Allah will soon be granted a great reward from Allah. |
48:11 | | The desert Arabs who stayed behind will say to you, “We were busy with our possessions and families. Ask forgiveness for us.” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, “Who can intervene for you with Allah whether He wants to deprive you or benefit you? Allah is Fully Aware of all that you do. |
48:12 | | “No, you thought that the messenger and the believers would never return to their families. That seemed fine in your hearts. You came up with an evil thought. You are a lost people.” |
48:13 | | Concerning any who do not believe in Allah and His messenger, We have prepared a blazing fire for the unbelievers. |
48:14 | | To Allah belongs the dominion of Heaven and Earth. He forgives whom He will, and He punishes whom He will. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. |
48:15 | | Those who stayed behind, when you march to take the spoils of war: “Allow us to follow you.” They want to change Allah’s decree. Say, “You will not follow us. Allah has already decided.” Then they will say, “You are jealous of us.” They understand only a little. |
48:16 | | Say to the desert Arabs who stayed behind, “You will be called [to fight] against a people who tend toward vicious war. Then you will fight until they surrender. If you are obedient, Allah will grant you a fine reward. If you retreat as you did before, He will punish you with a horrible punishment. |
48:17 | | There is no blame on the blind. There is no blame on the crippled or sick. Anyone who obeys Allah and His messenger will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Anyone who retreats will be punished with a horrible punishment. |
48:18 | | Allah was well pleased with the believers when they swore allegiance to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts. He sent an enduring power to them. He rewarded them with a speedy victory. |
48:19 | | They will acquire many spoils of war. Allah is Victorious, the Perfectly Wise. |
48:20 | | Allah has promised you many spoils that you will acquire. He has given you these in advance. He has restrained the hands of people against you so that it may be a sign for the believers. He will guide you on the Straight Way. |
48:21 | | Other spoils have not been within your power, but Allah has encompassed them. Allah is Most Capable over all things. |
48:22 | | If the unbelievers fight you, they will certainly retreat. They will find neither protector nor helper. |
48:23 | | That has been the practice of Allah in the past. You will not find a change in the practice of Allah. |
48:24 | | It is He who has restrained their hands from you [Muhammed] and from (the believers) in the valley of Mecca. After that, He gave you victory over them. Allah sees all that you do. |
48:25 | | They are the ones who rejected faith and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque. [They hindered you] from the offering reaching its place [of sacrifice]. [Allah would have empowered you] if there were not believing men and women [among the unbelievers] unknown to you in your confrontation. You were about to hurt them. [That would have] caused you to commit a crime without your knowledge. In this way, He admitted to His mercy whom He wanted. If (those few believers among the unbelievers) had been apart, We would certainly have punished the unbelievers with a horrible punishment. |
48:26 | | The unbelievers harbored stubborn disdain, born of ignorance, in their hearts. Allah sent His enduring power to His messenger and to the believers. He made them adhere to the command of righteousness. They were entitled to it and worthy of it. Allah is the All-knowing of all things. |
48:27 | | Certainly, Allah fulfilled the vision for His messenger in truth. You will enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah wills, with security. Heads [should be] shaved or hair cut short. [You can be] without fear. He knew what you knew not. He granted, besides this, a speedy victory. |
48:28 | | He is the One who has sent His messenger with guidance and the religion of truth. [He will] cause it to prevail over all other religions. Enough is Allah for a witness. |
48:29 | | Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. Those with him are firm against unbelievers. [They are] compassionate among each other. You will see them bow and prostrate, seeking grace and acceptance from Allah. Marks are on their faces, showing the traces of their prostration. Their story is like what is in the Torah. Their parable is in the Gospel which tells of a seed that sends forth its shoot and then strengthens it. It becomes fuller until it stands on its own stem. The sowers are delighted. As a result, it fills the unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised forgiveness and a great reward to those among them who believe and perform righteous deeds. |
