---|
46:1 | | Haa, Miim |
46:2 | | The revelation of the Book is from God, the Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom |
46:3 | | We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all between them, except for just ends, and for a term appointed. But those who do not believe turn away from that which they are warned |
46:4 | | Say, “Do you see what you invoke besides God? Show me what it is they have created on earth. Or have they a share in the heavens? Bring it to me in a book revealed before this or any shred of evidence that you may have, if you are telling the truth |
46:5 | | And who is more astray than one who invokes besides God, one that will not answer him on the Day of Accountability, and who in fact is unaware of their call |
46:6 | | And when humanity is gathered together, these will be hostile to them, and these will reject their worship |
46:7 | | When Our clear signs are rehearsed to them, the unbelievers say of the truth when it comes to them, “This is obviously deception. |
46:8 | | Or do they say, “He has fabricated it?” Say, “Had I fabricated it, then you could not obtain anything for me, from God. He knows best what you say. Enough is He for a witness between you and me, and He is Oft-Forgiving, Mercifully Redeeming. |
46:9 | | Say, “I do not depart from the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I follow only that which is revealed to me by inspiration. I am only a warner open and clear. |
46:10 | | Say, “Look, if this is from God, and you reject it, and a witness from among the Children of Israel testifies to it as an example of scripture, and has believed while you are arrogant, then know that God does not guide people who are unjust. |
46:11 | | The unbelievers say about those who believe, “If this message were a good thing, such people would not have gone to it first before us.” And seeing that they do not guide themselves by it they will say, “This is a fake. |
46:12 | | And before this, the Book of Moses was a guide and a mercy, and this Book confirms it in the Arabic tongue, to advise the unjust, and as hope to those who do right |
46:13 | | Indeed those who say, “Our Lord is God,” and remain firm, on them will be no fear, nor shall they grieve |
46:14 | | These will be companions of the gardens, dwelling therein forever, a reward for their deeds |
46:15 | | We have enjoined on the human being kindness to his parents. In pain did his mother carry him, and in pain did she give birth to him. Carrying the child and his weaning is a period of thirty months. Then, when he reaches the age of full strength and attains forty years he says, “My Lord, bless me to be grateful for Your favors that You have bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and to do the righteous deeds that You approve of, and be gracious to me for my harmful deeds. Indeed I have turned to You, and indeed I do submit. |
46:16 | | They are those from whom We will accept their better deeds and overlook their wrong. They will be among the companions of the garden. A promise of truth which was made to them |
46:17 | | But there is one who says to his parents a word of disrespect. “Do you promise me that I will be raised up, as will the generations who have passed away before me?” Then the parents seek God's help and say, “Woe to you. Believe, for the promise of God is true.” But he says, “This is nothing but tales of the ancient. |
46:18 | | These are those against who is proved the sentence among the previous generations of jinn and humans who have passed away, for they will be lost |
46:19 | | And to all are assigned degrees according to the deeds which they have done, and in order that God may reward their deeds, and no injustice is done to them |
46:20 | | And on the day that the unbelievers will be placed before the fire, it will be said to them, “You received good things in the life of the world, and you took pleasure in them, but today you will be rewarded with a humiliating penalty, because you were arrogant on earth without just cause, and because you transgressed. |
46:21 | | Mention one of Ad’s brothers. Behold, he warned his people in the winding sand-tracts, although there have been warners before him and after him saying, “Worship none other than God. Truly I fear for you the penalty of a mighty day. |
46:22 | | They said, “Have you come in order to turn us away from our gods? Then bring upon us that which you threaten us with, if you are telling the truth? |
46:23 | | He said, “The knowledge of when it will come is only with God. I proclaim to you the mission on which I have been sent, but I see that you are a people in ignorance. |
46:24 | | Then when they saw a cloud traversing the sky, and approaching their valleys, they said, “This cloud will give us rain.” “No, it is that which you were asking to be hastened, a wind carrying a terrible penalty |
46:25 | | “It will destroy everything by the command of its Lord.” Then by the morning, nothing was seen but their houses. This is how We reward those given to wrongdoing |
46:26 | | And We had firmly established them as We have established none other, and We had endowed them with hearing, vision, and feeling, but of no profit to them was their hearing, vision, and feeling when they went on rejecting the signs of God, and they were surrounded by that which they used to mock |
46:27 | | We caused populations all around you to perish, and We have shown the signs in various ways, that they may turn to Us |
46:28 | | Why then was no help forthcoming from those who they worshipped as gods besides God, as a means to access Him? No, they left them, because they were not real |
46:29 | | Behold, We turned towards you a group of jinn listening to the Quran. When they stood in the presence of it they said, “Listen in silence.” When the reading was finished, they returned to their people to warn them |
46:30 | | They said, “O our people, we have heard a book revealed now, after Moses, reflecting the truth of what came before it. It guides people to the truth and to a straight path |
46:31 | | “O our people, listen to the one who invites you to God, and believe in him. He will forgive you your faults, and deliver you from a terrible punishment |
46:32 | | “If any does not listen to the one who invites to God, he cannot stop God's plan on earth, and no protectors can he have besides God. Such people wander in manifest error. |
46:33 | | Do they not see that God, Who created the heavens and the earth, and never wearied with their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes indeed, He has power over all things |
46:34 | | And on the day that the unbelievers will be placed before the fire they will be asked, “Is this not the truth?” They will say, “Yes, by our Lord.” Then taste the penalty, because you were accustomed to denying truth |
46:35 | | Therefore patiently persevere, as did all messengers with definite purpose, and be in no haste. On the day that they see the punishment that was promised them, it will be as if they had not stayed more than an hour in a single day. Proclaim the message, and none will be caused to perish except those who transgress |
