| | Ali Quli Qara'i rendition of Surah Smoke, The Evident Smoke(ad-Dukhan) --- |
---|
44:1 | | Ḥa, Ma«m |
44:2 | | By the Manifest Book |
44:3 | | Indeed We sent it down on a blessed night, and indeed We have been warning [mankind] |
44:4 | | Every definitive matter is resolved in it |
44:5 | | as an ordinance from Us. Indeed We have been sending [apostles] |
44:6 | | as a mercy from your Lord —indeed He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing&mdash |
44:7 | | the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, should you have conviction |
44:8 | | There is no god except Him: He gives life and brings death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers |
44:9 | | Rather they play around in doubt |
44:10 | | So watch out for the day when the sky brings on a manifest smoke |
44:11 | | enveloping the people. [They will cry out:] ‘This is a painful punishment |
44:12 | | Our Lord! Remove from us this punishment. Indeed we have believed!&rsquo |
44:13 | | What will the admonition avail them, when a manifest apostle had already come to them |
44:14 | | but they turned away from him, and said, ‘A tutored madman?&rsquo |
44:15 | | Indeed We will withdraw the punishment a little; but you will indeed revert [to your earlier ways] |
44:16 | | The day We shall strike with the most terrible striking, We will indeed take vengeance [on them] |
44:17 | | Certainly We tried the people of Pharaoh before them, when a noble apostle came to them |
44:18 | | [saying,] ‘Give over the servants of Allah to me; indeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you |
44:19 | | Do not defy Allah. Indeed I bring you a manifest authority |
44:20 | | I seek the protection of my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me |
44:21 | | And if you do not believe me, keep out of my way.&rsquo |
44:22 | | Then he invoked his Lord, [saying,] ‘These are indeed a guilty lot.&rsquo |
44:23 | | [Allah told him,] ‘Set out with My servants by night; for you will indeed be pursued |
44:24 | | And leave the sea calmly; they will indeed be a drowned host.&rsquo |
44:25 | | How many gardens and springs did they leave behind |
44:26 | | Fields and splendid places |
44:27 | | and the bounties wherein they rejoiced |
44:28 | | So it was; and We bequeathed them to another people |
44:29 | | So neither the sky wept for them, nor the earth; nor were they granted any respite |
44:30 | | Certainly We delivered the Children of Israel from a humiliating torment |
44:31 | | from Pharaoh. Indeed he was a tyrant among the profligates |
44:32 | | Certainly We chose them knowingly above all the nations |
44:33 | | And We gave them some signs in which there was a manifest test |
44:34 | | Indeed these ones say |
44:35 | | ‘It will be just our first death, and we shall not be resurrected |
44:36 | | Bring our fathers back [to life], should you be truthful.&rsquo |
44:37 | | Are they better, or the people of Tubba‘, and those who were before them? We destroyed them; indeed they were guilty |
44:38 | | We did not create the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them for play |
44:39 | | We did not create them except with reason; but most of them do not know |
44:40 | | Indeed the Day of Judgement is the tryst for them all |
44:41 | | the day when a friend will not avail a friend in any way, nor will they be helped |
44:42 | | except for him on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed He is the All-mighty, the All-merciful |
44:43 | | Indeed the tree of Zaqqu |
44:44 | | will be the food of the sinful |
44:45 | | Like molten copper it will boil in the bellies |
44:46 | | boiling like boiling water |
44:47 | | ‘Seize him and drag him to the middle of hell |
44:48 | | then pour over his head the punishment of boiling water.&rsquo |
44:49 | | ‘Taste! Indeed you are the [self-styled] mighty and noble |
44:50 | | This is indeed what you used to doubt!&rsquo |
44:51 | | Indeed the Godwary will be in a secure place |
44:52 | | amid gardens and springs |
44:53 | | dressed in fine silk and brocade, sitting face to face |
44:54 | | So shall it be, and We shall wed them to black-eyed houris |
44:55 | | There they will call for every fruit, in safety |
44:56 | | There they will not taste death except the first death, and He will save them from the punishment of hel |
44:57 | | —a grace from your Lord. That is the great success |
44:58 | | Indeed We have made it simple in your language, so that they may take admonition |
44:59 | | So wait! Indeed they [too] are waiting |
