| 44:2 | | By the clear readable book, |
| 44:3 | | We revealed it on a blessed night and have been warning humanity. |
| 44:4 | | In it every matter is decided wisely; |
| 44:5 | | all the commands come from Ourselves, We send Message and messengers, |
| 44:6 | | a favour from Your Lord – the Hearer, the Knower, |
| 44:7 | | the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth and what is between them – if only you are firm believers |
| 44:8 | | There is no god but Him, He gives life and death, Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. |
| 44:9 | | Unfortunately, they are in doubt, dilly-dallying. |
| 44:10 | | So wait for a Day when the sky brings clouds of smoke |
| 44:11 | | that will cover up people and they will cry: “This is painful punishment! |
| 44:12 | | Our Lord, relieve us, and we will believe.” |
| 44:13 | | They will not learn a lesson even when a Messenger has come to them, |
| 44:14 | | they turn away from him and say, “He’s been taught by someone and is possessed!” |
| 44:15 | | Shortly We shall remove the punishment, but they will turn back to their disbelief. |
| 44:16 | | The Day We seize them brutally, We shall take full revenge |
| 44:17 | | Long ago We tested Pharaoh’s people, when a noble messenger came saying to them, |
| 44:18 | | “Hand over to me the servants of Allah; I am a trustworthy messenger sent to you. |
| 44:19 | | Don’t regard yourself greater than Allah; I’ve come with distinct authority to you. |
| 44:20 | | I’ve sought protection from my Lord and your Lord from your abuse; |
| 44:21 | | if you don’t believe me then leave me alone.” |
| 44:22 | | Musa called out to His Lord, “These are wicked people.” |
| 44:23 | | So We ordered him: “Take my servants by night, though you will be chased, |
| 44:24 | | after crossing the sea leave it parted, they will be a drowned army.” |
| 44:25 | | They, the Pharaoh’s lot, left behind many gardens, springs, |
| 44:26 | | cornfields and spacious homes and |
| 44:27 | | clubs where they had fun. |
| 44:28 | | We raised other people to inherit them, |
| 44:29 | | neither the Heavens nor the Earth wept over them, they weren’t given respite |
| 44:30 | | We delivered the Israelites from the shameful punishment |
| 44:31 | | of the Pharaoh; he was arrogant and had gone beyond limits. |
| 44:32 | | We knowingly favoured them above other people of their time. |
| 44:33 | | We showed them many miracles; in them was a clear test |
| 44:34 | | These Makkans say: |
| 44:35 | | “There is only one death for us; we won’t be resurrected. |
| 44:36 | | Why don’t you bring to life our forefathers if you are truthful.” |
| 44:37 | | Are they better, or the people of Tubba and the people before them? We destroyed them since they were wicked. |
| 44:38 | | We didn’t create the Heavens and the Earth and what is between them as an amusement park. |
| 44:39 | | We created them for a purpose, but most don’t know. |
| 44:40 | | The Day of Decision is the fixed time for all of them, |
| 44:41 | | a Day when no friend will benefit a friend in the slightest, nor will they be helped, |
| 44:42 | | except anyone Allah wants to be kind to. He is the Mighty, the Caring |
| 44:43 | | The tree of Zaqqum |
| 44:44 | | will be the sinners’ food, |
| 44:45 | | like molten copper that boils in the stomach, |
| 44:46 | | bubbling like boiling water. |
| 44:47 | | It will be said: “Seize him and drag him to the middle of Hell! |
| 44:48 | | Then pour the punishment of boiling water over his head. |
| 44:49 | | Taste it! You were the honourable influential one! |
| 44:50 | | This is what you doubted! |
| 44:51 | | The pious will live in a safe place; |
| 44:52 | | of gardens and water fountains, |
| 44:53 | | wearing embroidered silken dress enjoying each other’s company. |
| 44:54 | | That’s how it will be, We shall wed them with pure spouses with gorgeous eyes. |
| 44:55 | | Safe and satisfied, they will enjoy every kind of fruit. |
| 44:56 | | They will taste death only once and will be protected from the punishment of Hell, |
| 44:57 | | a bounty from your Lord! That is the supreme victory. |
| 44:58 | | We made the Quran easy to understand in your language, so they may pay attention. |
| 44:59 | | So wait, they’re waiting too |
