| | Sher Ali rendition of Surah Smoke, The Evident Smoke(ad-Dukhan) --- |
---|
44:1 | | Ha Mim |
44:2 | | By this perspicuous Book |
44:3 | | Truly, WE revealed it in a blessed night. Truly, WE have ever been warning |
44:4 | | Therein are decided all matters of wisdo |
44:5 | | By our own command. Verily, WE have ever been sending Messengers |
44:6 | | As a mercy from thy Lord. Verily, HE is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing |
44:7 | | The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you would only be inclined to believe |
44:8 | | There is no god but HE. HE gives life and HE causes death. HE is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers |
44:9 | | Yet they play about in doubt |
44:10 | | So watch thou for the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke |
44:11 | | That will envelope the people. This will be a painful torment |
44:12 | | On seeing it the people will cry, `Our Lord, remove from us the torment; truly, we are believers. |
44:13 | | How can they benefit by admonition, when there has already come to them a Messenger explaining things clearly |
44:14 | | And yet they turned away from him and said, `He is tutored, a man possessed ! |
44:15 | | WE shall remove the punishment for a little while, but you will certainly revert to mischief |
44:16 | | On the day when WE shall seize you with the great seizure, you will know that WE will, certainly, exact retribution |
44:17 | | And WE tried the people of Pharaoh before them, and there came to them a noble Messenger |
44:18 | | Who said to them, `Deliver to me the servants of ALLAH. Truly, I am to you a Messenger, faithful to my trust |
44:19 | | `And exalt not yourselves in defiance of ALLAH. Surely, I come to you with a clear authority |
44:20 | | `And I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me to death |
44:21 | | `And if you believe me not, then leave me alone. |
44:22 | | Then Moses prayed unto his Lord, `These are, indeed, a sinful people. |
44:23 | | ALLAH said, `Take MY servants away by night; for you will surely be pursued |
44:24 | | `And leave thou the sea behind when it is calm, crossing over the dunes. Surely, they are a host that are doomed to be drowned. |
44:25 | | How many were the gardens and the springs that they left behind |
44:26 | | And the cornfields and the noble places |
44:27 | | And the comforts and luxuries wherein they took delight |
44:28 | | Thus it happened. And WE made another people inherit these things |
44:29 | | And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they respited |
44:30 | | And WE delivered the Children of Israel from the abasing tormen |
44:31 | | Inflicted by Pharaoh. He was, surely, haughty even among the extravagant |
44:32 | | And WE chose them above the peoples of their time knowingly |
44:33 | | And WE gave them Signs wherein was a clear trial |
44:34 | | These people do say |
44:35 | | `There is only one death for us, and we shall not be raised up again |
44:36 | | `So bring back our fathers, if you speak the truth. |
44:37 | | Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? WE destroyed them because they were sinful |
44:38 | | And WE created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in sport |
44:39 | | WE created them not but for an eternal purpose, but most of them understand not |
44:40 | | Verily, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them |
44:41 | | The day when a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped |
44:42 | | Save those to whom ALLAH shows mercy. Surely, HE is the Mighty, the Merciful |
44:43 | | Verily, the tree of Zaqqh |
44:44 | | Will be the food of the sinful |
44:45 | | Like molten copper it will boil in their bellies |
44:46 | | As the boiling of scalding water |
44:47 | | WE shall command the angels: `Seize him and drag him into the midst of the blazing Fire |
44:48 | | `Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water. |
44:49 | | And shall say to him, `Taste it. Thou didst consider thyself the mighty, the honourable one |
44:50 | | `This, indeed, is what you doubted. |
44:51 | | Verily, the righteous will be in a place of security |
44:52 | | Amid gardens and springs |
44:53 | | Attired in fine silk and heavy brocade, facing one another |
44:54 | | Thus will it be. And WE shall give them as companions fair maidens, having large, black eyes |
44:55 | | They will call therein for every kind of fruit, in peace and security |
44:56 | | They will not taste death therein, save the first death; and God will save them from the punishment of the blazing Fire |
44:57 | | As an act of grace from thy Lord. That is the supreme achievement |
44:58 | | And WE have made the Qur'an easy in thy tongue that they may take heed |
44:59 | | So wait thou; they, too, are waiting |
