Musharraf Hussain rendition of Surah The Family of Imran, The House of Imran(al-Imran)
---
3:1 Alif Lam Meem.
3:2 Allah is the only God, the Living, the Everlasting.
3:3 Truly He has revealed to you the Book, confirming what scriptures already existed, and He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
3:4 before that as a guidance for people, and He sent the criterion for distinguishing right from wrong. Those who deny Allah’s verses will be severely punished. Allah is the Almighty, the Avenger.
3:5 Nothing on Earth and in the Heavens is hidden from Allah.
3:6 He is the one who forms you in mothers’ wombs as He pleases; there is no God besides Him, the Almighty, the Wise
3:7 He is the one Who revealed the Book to you: some of its verses are precise in meaning, they are the foundation stone of the Book, whilst others are metaphorical. The people whose minds are sick chase after what is metaphorical, they want to stir up disagreement and to concoct their own interpretations; yet only Allah knows their exact meaning, and those firmly grounded in knowledge say, “We believe in it, since all of it is from Our Lord,” only those with understanding pay heed.
3:8 “Our Lord, let not our hearts waver from the truth after You have guided us, and take care of us. You are the Giver of gifts.
3:9 Our Lord, You will gather people on for a day in which there is no doubt.” Allah never breaks His promise
3:10 As for the disbelievers, their wealth and their children will not benefit them in the least against Allah; they will be fuel of the Fire,
3:11 just like the people of Pharaoh and those before them who denied Our signs, so Allah punished them for their sins. Allah is severe in punishment.
3:12 Tell the disbelievers: “You will soon be defeated and be herded into Hell.” What a miserable place of rest!
3:13 A sign for you was the meeting at Badr; one army fought in the path of Allah, and the others were disbelievers, they saw the Muslims as twice as many as themselves. Allah strengthens with His help anyone He pleases; for those of insight, it had a lesson
3:14 People’s love of worldly pleasures has been made attractive to them: women, children, heaps of gold and silver, well-bred horses, animals and farmland, such are delights of this worldly life, but Allah has the best place of return.
3:15 Say: “Shall I tell you of something far better than these? To those who are mindful, their Lord will give them gardens beneath which rivers flow where they will live forever, and pure spouses and the pleasure of Allah.” Allah watches over His servants
3:16 who pray, “Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of Hellfire,”
3:17 they are patient, truthful, obedient, charitable, and seek forgiveness at dawn.
3:18 Allah bears witness that there is no god beside Him, as do the angels and those whose knowledge is used to uphold fairness; there is no god but Him, the Almighty, the Wise
3:19 Islam is the only religion acceptable to Allah. Those given the Book began to disagree amongst themselves out of sheer rebelliousness after knowledge had come to them. Whoever denies Allah’s signs, let him remember that Allah is swift in settling accounts.
3:20 If they argue with you, then say, “I have submitted myself to Allah, as have those who follow me”, then ask those given the Book and the Arabs without any scripture: “Have you submitted to Allah?” If they submit to Allah, they will be guided, but if they turn away, you will have done your job of delivering the message. Allah watches over His servants
3:21 Those who reject Allah’s verses, unlawfully killed the prophets and killed those who enjoined justice, give them the good news of painful punishment.
3:22 Their deeds will prove to be worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and they’ll have no one to help them.
3:23 Haven’t you seen those who have been given a share of the Book? When they are referred to the Book of Allah to judge between themselves, a group turns away, stubbornly resisting.
3:24 That is because they said, “We will be in Hellfire only for a few days.” The lies they used to make about their religion have deceived them.
3:25 How will it be when We gather them on the Day that is certain to come, and everyone is paid in full what they’ve earned without being wronged in the least
3:26 Say, “Allah! Master of all power, You give power to anyone You want, and You take it away from anyone You want; You bestow honour and You humiliate anyone You please. All goodness is in Your hands. You have power over all things.
3:27 You gradually merge the night in to the day, and You gradually merge the day into the night. You create the living from the dead, and You cause the living to die. You provide without bounds to anyone You want.
3:28 The believers should not make the disbelievers their allies in preference to the believers, and whoever does so will receive no help from Allah unless they have done so to protect themselves out of fear. Allah cautions you to be mindful of Him, and the final return is to Allah.
3:29 Say, “Whether you reveal what is in your minds or you conceal it, Allah knows it. In fact, He knows whatever is in the Heavens and on the Earth and Allah has power over all things.”
3:30 Every person that day will find in front of them whatever good and whatever evil they had done. They will wish that they had not done their bad deeds. Allah warns you to be mindful of Him, He is kind to His servants.
3:31 Say: “If you love Allah then follow me, and Allah will love you and forgive your sins. Allah is the Forgiver, the Kind.”
3:32 Say: “Obey Allah and the Messenger.” If they turn away, remember that Allah does not love the disbelievers.
3:33 From all the creation, Allah chose Adam, Noah, the families of Ibrahim and of Imran,
3:34 each generation related to the other. Allah is the Hearer, the Knower.
3:35 When Imran’s wife said, “Lord, I vow to dedicate whatever is in my womb to Your service, so accept this vow from me. You are the Hearer, the Knower.”
3:36 Once she had given birth to her, she complained, “Lord, I gave birth to a girl” – Allah knew well what she had given birth to, the male is not like the female – then she added, “I have named her Maryam, and I place her and her offspring in Your protection from the accursed Satan.
3:37 Her Lord accepted her and raised her in the best way, and He entrusted her to the care of Zakariyya. Whenever Zakariyya entered the prayer room, he found fruits around her; so one day he asked her, “Where do you get these from Maryam?” She replied, “It’s from Allah. Indeed, Allah provides boundlessly to whomever He pleases.
3:38 Standing there in a state of bliss, Zakariyya prayed to his Lord, saying, “My Lord, kindly grant me a righteous child. You are the Hearer of prayers.”
3:39 The angels called out to him as he stood praying in the prayer room, “Allah gives you good news of Yahya, confirming a Word from Allah, a chaste and distinguished person, a Prophet from among the righteous.”
3:40 He asked, “Will I have a boy, I have reached old age and my wife is infertile.” The angel replied, “It will be so. Allah does what He pleases.”
3:41 Zakariyya asked, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “The sign is that for three days, you will only speak by sign language to people. So, remember your Lord constantly, glorifying Him in the morning and the evening.
3:42 Remember when the angels said to Maryam: “Maryam, Allah has chosen you and purified you from all the women of the world.
3:43 Maryam, worship your Lord, prostrate and bow with those who bow.”
3:44 This is from the reports of the unseen which We revealed to you. You weren’t there among them when they cast lots to determine who would be Maryam’s guardian; nor were you there with them when they argued about the virgin conception
3:45 Remember when the angels said: “Maryam, Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him, his name will be the Messiah, Isa son of Maryam, honoured in this world and in the Hereafter, and among those nearest to Allah.
3:46 He will speak to people from his cradle and as a grown-up, and he will be righteous.”
3:47 She asked, “Lord, how can I have a son when no man has touched me?” The angel said, “That is how Allah is; He creates whatever He pleases. If He decides something, He simply says, ‘Be!’ And there it is.
3:48 And Allah will teach him the Book, wisdom, Torah and the Gospel.”
3:49 And, as a messenger to the Israelites, he will tell them: “I have come to you with miracles from your Lord. I will create for you a model of a bird from clay, and with Allah’s approval, when I blow on it, it will become a living bird. With Allah’s approval, I will heal the blind, the leper, and I will bring the dead back to life, and I will tell you what you ate and what you stockpile in your homes. In that there is a sign for you, if you are believers.
3:50 I shall confirm what came before me in the Torah, and I will make lawful some things that were previously unlawful for you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me.
3:51 Allah is mine and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path.
3:52 When Isa sensed rejection from them, he called out, “Who will be my helper for the sake of Allah?” The disciples replied, “We are Allah’s helpers. We believe in Allah and bear witness that we submit to His will.
3:53 Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed and we follow the messenger, so include us among witnesses to the truth.
3:54 The hypocrites among the Israelites plotted, and Allah prepared a counterplan. Allah is the Best of the planners.
3:55 Remember when Allah said: “Isa, I will receive you, then raise you up to Me, and I will acquit you of all the charges invented by those who deny the truth. I will place your followers above those who denied the truth until the Day of Judgement; but for now you shall return to Me, and I will make judgement about their differences concerning you.
3:56 The deniers, I will punish them severely in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.”
3:57 The believers who do righteous deeds, He will reward them in full, but Allah dislikes the wrongdoers.
3:58 That is what We recite to you of Our verses from the wise Reminder
3:59 In the sight of Allah, Isa is like Adam; He created him from dust then said to him “Be!” And he became.
3:60 This is the truth from Your Lord, so listener, don’t be among the doubters
3:61 Whoever argues with you over this once the knowledge has come to you, say to them: “Come! Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves; then let us call on Allah’s curse on the liars.”
3:62 This is the true account. There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Almighty, the Wise.
3:63 If they turn away, so what, Allah knows the troublemakers
3:64 Say: “People of The Book, let us agree on a common statement that exists between us: We worship no one except Allah; we associate nothing with Him; and we shall not adopt anyone else as lord besides Allah.” Then if they turn away from this, say: “Be witnesses that we submit to Allah’s will.
3:65 “People of The Book, why do you argue over Ibrahim, given that the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Why don’t you think?
3:66 Here you are arguing over something that you know well, but why must you argue over something you don’t know? Allah knows but you don’t know.
3:67 Ibrahim was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but a person of true faith who submitted to the will of Allah; he certainly was not from among the idolaters.
3:68 The closest of people to Ibrahim are those who followed him at that time, and this Prophet and those who believe in his Message. Allah is the Protector of the believers.
3:69 Some People of The Book would love to mislead you, not realising that they are only misleading themselves.
3:70 “People of The Book, why do you deny Allah’s signs when you are eyewitnesses to their revelation?
3:71 People of The Book, why do you dress up the truth with falsehood and knowingly hide the truth?”
3:72 A group of People of The Book say: “Go ahead and believe what has been revealed to the believers early in the day then, at the end of the day, deny it; this way, the believers may give up their faith.”
3:73 And they say: “Only believe in those who follow your religion.” Say: “Allah’s guidance is the only guidance to rely on that has been given to like. So why do they dispute with you before your Lord?” Say: “All grace is in Allah’s hand, to give to anyone who wants it. Allah is Vast, the Knower.
3:74 He selects for His kindness anyone He pleases.” Allah is Most Gracious, the Almighty
3:75 Among the People of The Book are those who, if you entrust them with a heap of gold, they will return it to you. But there are others who, if you entrust them with a single gold coin, they will not return it to you unless you stand over them until they give it back; this is because they claim, “We are under no contract when it comes to non-Jews,” and in this way they knowingly tell lies against Allah.
3:76 Not so! Whoever fulfils his pledge and is mindful let him know that Allah loves the mindful.
3:77 Those who sell Allah’s contract and their own vows in return for a small sum of money will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will not speak to them nor look at them nor purify them on Judgement Day, instead they will have a painful punishment.
3:78 Some of them twist their tongues when reciting from the Book to make you think it is from the Book, even though it forms no part of the Book, and they say: “This is from Allah,” even though it is not from Allah, and they knowingly tell lies against Allah
3:79 It is inconceivable for a man who has been given the Book, authority and prophethood by Allah to then tell people: “Worship me instead of Allah.” Rather he will say, “Be godly, seeing as you used to teach the Book and study it.”
3:80 Likewise he would never command you to adopt the angels and prophets as lords. Would he command you to disbelieve after you have submitted yourselves to the will of Allah
3:81 Remember the time when Allah took a pledge from all the prophets, saying, “Whatever I give you of the Book and wisdom, and later the final messenger comes to you confirming what you have, then you must believe in him and lend him your support.” They were then asked, “Do you affirm and accept my pledge as it is?” They replied, “We do.” So, Allah said, “So be witnesses, and I am a witness with you.
3:82 So, whoever turns away now, these are the sinners.
3:83 Are they seeking something other than Allah’s religion, while all things in the Heavens and on Earth willingly and unwillingly submit to Him, and to Him they will return?
3:84 Say: “We believe in Allah and everything revealed to us and to Ibrahim, Ismael, Ishaq, Yaqub and his children, and in what Musa and Isa and other prophets were given by their Lord. We do not discriminate between any of them, and we bear witness that we submit and commit ourselves to Him.”
3:85 Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers
3:86 Why should Allah guide people who rejected faith after believing? They witnessed that the messenger sent to them was genuine and came to them with clear proofs. Allah will not guide such wrongdoers.
3:87 The reward for such people is the curse of Allah, the angels and all humanity.
3:88 They will remain in Hell forever; neither will the torment be lightened nor will they be given any respite,
3:89 except those who later repent and reform themselves. Allah is the Forgiver, the Kind.
3:90 Those who disbelieve after believing will increase in their disbelief, their repentance will never be accepted; such people are utterly misguided.
3:91 Those who disbelieve and then die as disbelievers, even if one of them were to offer as a ransom enough gold to cover the Earth, it would not be accepted. For such people, a painful punishment is in store, and they will have no helpers
3:92 You will never achieve goodness until you spend in charity from what you dearly love, and whatever you spend, Allah Knows it.
3:93 Initially all foods were lawful for the Israelites except what Yaqub outlawed for himself before the Torah was revealed. Say: “Bring the Torah and read it, if you are telling the truth.”
3:94 After this, whoever makes up lies against Allah, such people are wrongdoers.
3:95 Say: “Allah has spoken the truth,” so together follow the religion of Ibrahim, a man of firm faith; he was not an idolater
3:96 The first house founded for people to worship in was that in Bakka, as a blessing and source of guidance for all people.
3:97 There are clear signs in it, for example the place where Ibrahim stood. Anyone entering it will be given sanctuary. Pilgrimage to the Ancient House is compulsory for People who can make the journey, in order to seek Allah’s pleasure. Anyone who denies this duty should know that Allah is Self-Sufficient, independent of all the creation
3:98 Say: “People of The Book, why do you deny Allah’s signs, knowing that Allah is a witness to all that you do?”
3:99 Say: “People of The Book, why do you stop believers from Allah’s path, seeking to make those signs appear to be a deviation, even though you are eyewitnesses to them. Allah is not unaware of what you do?”
3:100 Believers, if you pay heed to the teachings of any sect of the People of The Book, they will urge you to revert to disbelief after having believed.
3:101 How could you possibly disbelieve when Allah’s verses are being recited to you and His Messenger lives among you? Anyone who holds firmly to faith in Allah will be guided to a straight path
3:102 Believers, fear Allah as He deserves to be feared, and do not die except in state of submission to Him
3:103 Hold tightly to Allah’s rope altogether, let nothing divide you, and remember Allah’s favour on you when you were enemies and He joined your hearts together in mutual love so that, by His favour, you became brothers. You were on the edge of a pit of fire when He saved you from falling into it. This is how Allah makes clear His signs for you, so you may be rightly guided.
3:104 There should always be a group among you that calls people to what is best, enjoins the common good and forbids evil; these people are the successful
3:105 Don’t be like those who differed and became divided among themselves after clear signs came to them; severe punishment awaits such people,
3:106 on a day when some faces will be bright whilst others will be gloomy. As for those whose faces are gloomy, they will be asked, “Did you disbelieve after having believed? So taste the punishment for your disbelief!”
3:107 Those whose faces shine joyfully will be in Allah’s care, where they will remain forever.
3:108 These truly are Allah’s verses that We recite to you, and Allah does not want to be unjust to His creation.
3:109 All things in the Heavens and on Earth belong to Allah, and He determines the outcome of all things
3:110 You are the best community to emerge for humanity, so long as you enjoin the common good, forbid evil and believe in Allah. Had the People of The Book believed, it would be better for them. Some of them believe, but most of them are evildoers.
3:111 They will never do you any major harm even if they were to fight you, they would soon turn their backs and then no one would help them.
3:112 They will be disgraced wherever they go, unless they are loyal to Allah or loyal to the people. They have incurred the wrath of Allah, and they are disgraced. All because they denied Allah’s signs, killed prophets unjustly, were disobedient and overstepped Allah’s boundaries.
3:113 All of them are not alike; a group among the People of The Book upholds the teachings of the scripture, reciting Allah’s verses throughout the night as they prostrate to Him.
3:114 They believe in Allah and the Last Day, enjoin common good and forbid evil, and always rush to perform good deeds; such people are the righteous.
3:115 Whatever good they do, it will never go unrewarded by Allah, Allah knows the pious
3:116 Neither the wealth nor the children of the disbelievers shall benefit them in the least before Allah. They are companions of the Fire, remaining therein forever.
3:117 In this life anything they spend in charity is like a biting wind that blows and destroys the crops of the wrongdoers. Allah did not wrong them but it was themselves
3:118 Believers, don’t take as your closest friends others apart from fellow believers, they will cause you grief and they’d like to cause you distress. Their hatred is obvious from their mouths, but what they hide in their hearts is even worse. We have clearly explained to you Our signs, if you reflect.
3:119 This is how you are, you love them, but they don’t love you though you believe in their whole Book. When they meet you, they say: “We believe,” but when they are alone they bite their fingertips out of rage. Say, “Die in your rage!” Allah knows well people’s innermost feelings.
3:120 When you have good time, they are saddened, but when you have hard time, they are happy. As long as you are patient and guard yourselves against them, their plotting will not harm you. Allah is aware of what they do
3:121 Remember that morning, when you left your home to align the believers in their fighting position. Allah is the Hearer, the Knower.
3:122 When your two parties considered giving up the fight, though Allah was their protector; so let the believers put their trust in Allah.
3:123 Allah had helped you in the battle of Badr, when you were weak, be mindful of Allah so that you are thankful to Him
3:124 Remember when you were motivating the believers: “Aren’t you glad your Lord helped you with three thousand angels sent down as reinforcement?”
3:125 Of course, Allah will send five thousand angels swooping down if you are steadfast and mindful, even if the enemy attacks suddenly.
3:126 Allah did so to raise your spirits and to reassure you, help comes from Allah the Almighty, the Wise.
3:127 It was done to cut off one of the flanks of the disbelievers’ army or to weaken them so much that they fled in disarray.
3:128 It isn’t your concern whether Allah forgives them or punishes them; they are wrongdoers.
3:129 All things in the Heavens and on Earth belong to Allah; He forgives anyone He pleases, and He punishes anyone He pleases. Allah is the Forgiver, the Kind
3:130 Believers, do not take compound interest,increasing your wealth unjustly, and fear Allah so that you may prosper;
3:131 protect yourselves from the Fire prepared for the disbelievers,
3:132 and obey Allah and the Messenger so you are treated kindly
3:133 Rush towards your Lord’s forgiveness and towards Paradise, which is as wide as the Heavens and the Earth, prepared for those who are mindful of Allah:
3:134 who spend in charity in good and bad times, can control their anger and pardon people.
3:135 Allah loves those who strive to do good. If by mistake they act indecently or wrong themselves, at once they remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins – can anyone except Allah forgive sins? – And never continue doing the wrong knowingly.
3:136 The reward for them is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they’ll live forever. What an excellent reward for those who act righteously!
3:137 Many different ways of life have existed before you, so travel the Earth and see for yourselves what became of those who denied Allah’s signs.
3:138 This is an explanation for humanity, a guidance and warning for those mindful of Allah
3:139 Do not be disheartened or sad; you will come out on top when you are true believers.
3:140 If you were injured, they were injured too. We cause such days to alternate between people, so that Allah may mark out the true believers among you, and select some as martyrs. Even if they sometimes win, Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
3:141 Furthermore, Allah may do this to put the believers to the test and wipe out the disbelievers.
3:142 Or did you think you would go to Paradise without Allah marking out those of you who had struggled in His path and those among you who are steadfast?
3:143 Before coming face to face with it, you were eager to fight, but now you have seen it with your own eyes
3:144 Muhammad is a noble messenger, many Messengers came and went before him. If he should die or be martyred, would you turn on your heels and head back to the old ways? Whoever turns back will not harm Allah in the slightest. Allah rewards the thankful.
3:145 No one dies without Allah’s knowledge, but dies at the appointed time, as approved by Allah. Anyone who wants riches of this world, We shall give him some, and whoever wants riches of the Hereafter We shall give him all; and We will reward the thankful
3:146 Muhammad is like many other prophets alongside whom masses of devout men have fought; they were neither disheartened nor weakened, nor did they surrender in face of their sufferings. Allah loves the patient.
3:147 They prayed, “Our Lord, forgive our sins and any extravagance of ours, make us steadfast, and help us against the disbelievers.”
3:148 Allah granted them both the rewards of this world and an excellent reward in the Hereafter. Allah loves those who strive to do good.
3:149 Believers, if you obey the disbelievers, they will make you turn on your heels and go back to your previous ways as losers.
3:150 Rather, Allah is your Protector, and He is the Best of helpers.
3:151 We will cast terror into the hearts of the disbelievers because of all that they associated with Allah without any revealed authority. Their home is the Fire. What an evil resting place for the wrongdoers
3:152 Allah fulfilled His promise of help, so you defeated them, then you lost courage, argued about the order you had been given and disobeyed, even after He had shown you what you desired – the fact is that some of you long for the world, whilst others among you long for the Hereafter – and then He saved you from them in order to test you further. Now He has pardoned you. Allah is Gracious to the believers.
3:153 Remember how you fled uphill in panic without concern for anyone, yet the Messenger was calling you from behind; so He gave you a lot of anguish so that afterwards you don’t grieve over your loss and sufferings. Allah is aware of what you did
3:154 Then, after the anguish, He gave you a sense of security, drowsiness overwhelmed some of you, whilst others were absorbed in their private thoughts, entertaining false ideas about Allah, ideas only fit for the Age of Ignorance. They were saying to themselves, “Do we have any say in this?” Tell them, Muhammad: “All of this rests with Allah.” They conceal in their hearts what they will not reveal to you, saying, “If we had a say in this, we would not have been killed in this spot.” Say: “Even if you had stayed at home, those who were fated to be killed would still have come out here to their graves. Allah did this to test your courage and to prove what is in your hearts.” Allah knows well people’s innermost feelings
3:155 Those of you who fled on the day the two armies met did so because Satan made some of them err, but Allah has pardoned them; Allah is the Forgiver, the Gentle.
3:156 Believers, do not be like the disbelievers who say of their brothers who die on a journey or in battle: “Had they stayed with us they wouldn’t have died nor been killed.” This is how Allah sows regret in their hearts. Allah gives life, and He takes it away, He sees all you do.
3:157 Whether you are killed for Allah’s cause or you die, Allah’s forgiveness and kindness are far better than what they can gather.
3:158 If you die or get killed, you will certainly be gathered before Allah
3:159 Allah made you kind, so you are lenient with them; had you been harsh and hardhearted they would have deserted you, so pardon, seek forgiveness and consult them. Once you have made up your mind, put trust in Allah. Allah loves those who put their trust in Him.
3:160 If Allah helps you, no one can defeat you, but if He humiliates you, then who will be your helper? The believers put their trust in Allah.
3:161 A prophet does not cheat anyone. Whoever cheats will be forced to produce what he gained by cheating on the Day of Judgement; then everyone will be paid their due in full, and they will not be wronged.
3:162 How can a person who seeks Allah’s pleasure be compared with one who earned His anger, and whose destination is Hell? What a wretched end!
3:163 For each of them, Allah has prepared different ranks. Allah sees what they do
3:164 Allah favoured the believers when He sent them a messenger from among themselves, reciting His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, before that they were misguided
3:165 Strangely, when a tragedy struck you, after you had inflicted twice as much damage on your enemies, you said, “Where did this come from?” Tell them: “It came from yourselves.” Allah has power over all things.
3:166 What happened to you that day when the two armies met happened with Allah’s permission, and to mark out the believers,
3:167 and to mark out the hypocrites; when they were told: “Come and fight in Allah’s way, or at least defend yourselves,” they answered, “If only we knew how to fight we would have followed you.” That day, they were far nearer to disbelief than ever they were to faith, saying with their mouths what wasn’t in their hearts. Allah knows well what they hide.
3:168 Those who told their brothers to remain behind with them, and then said, “If only they had listened to us, they would not have been killed.” Say to them: “Ward off death from yourselves, if you are telling the truth.
3:169 Don’t consider dead those killed in Allah’s way; they’re alive eating and drinking, in their Lord’s presence.
3:170 Delighting in that portion of grace which Allah has given them and rejoicing at those who have yet to join them as martyrs in succession, saying that they should have no fear nor should they grieve.
3:171 They rejoice in Allah’s gifts and favours, Allah will not lower the value of the believer’s reward.
3:172 Those believers who rallied to the call of Allah and the Messenger after getting injured will get a great reward, for striving to do good and being mindful of Allah.
3:173 When they were told: “The people of Makkah have gathered against you, so fear them,” their faith increased, and they said: “Allah’s help is enough for us. What an Excellent Guardian!”
3:174 So they returned home with Allah’s blessing and favour, without being harmed since they had sought Allah’s pleasure. Allah is Most Gracious
3:175 That was Satan, making you fear his cronies. Don’t be afraid of them but fear Me, if you are true believers.
3:176 Muhammad, do not be distressed by those who rush headlong into disbelief; they will never harm Allah in the slightest. Allah wishes to give them no share in the Hereafter, but their punishment will be severe.
3:177 They have traded their faith for disbelief, they can never harm Allah in the slightest; for them is a painful punishment.
3:178 The disbelievers shouldn’t consider Our prolonging their lives as a good thing for them; We prolong their lives so they increase in their sinfulness; for them is a shameful punishment.
3:179 Allah will not leave you believers as you are now until He has separated the good from the bad; nor will Allah inform all of you about the unseen realm, but Allah picks out anyone He pleases from His messengers. So, believe in Allah and His Messenger, and if you believe and are mindful of Allah, then you shall have a great reward
3:180 Don’t let those who are stingy with what Allah has given them of His favours imagine for a moment that it is good for them; rather it is bad for them. On Judgement Day they will be made to wear the wealth they hoarded as collars round their necks. Everything in the Heavens and Earth belongs to Allah. Allah is aware of what you do
3:181 Allah has heard the words of those who said, “Allah is poor, and we are rich.” We shall write down what they said. They killed the Prophets unlawfully, and We shall say to them, “Taste the punishment of the blazing Fire,
3:182 this is for the misdeeds committed by your hands.” Allah is not unjust to His servants,
3:183 who say, “Allah has taken our pledge not to believe in a messenger until he comes to you with a burnt offering.” Say: “Many messengers came to you before me with clear proofs, and practised what you mention. Why did you kill them, if you are telling the truth?”
3:184 If they accuse you of lying, many messengers before you were also accused of lying, even though they came with miracles, scriptures and the enlightening Book
3:185 Everyone will have the taste of death, and on Judgement Day you will be given your full reward. Anyone who is saved from the Fire and is admitted to Paradise will be the winner. This worldly life is no more than a deception.
3:186 You will certainly be tested through your wealth and persons and you will hear many insults from the idolaters and those given the Book before you. If you are patient and mindful of Allah, that is real resolve
3:187 Remember, Allah made a contract with those given the Book: “Proclaim it to the people and do not hide it.” So, they threw it behind themand sold it for a small sum of money. How evil was their bargaining!
3:188 O Prophet, do not consider those who delight at what they have done and wish to be praised for what they failed to do; don’t think they’ve escaped the punishment; they shall have a painful punishment.
3:189 Control of the Heavens and the Earth belong to Allah. Allah has power over all things
3:190 In the creation of the Heavens and the Earth and the cycle of night and day, there are signs for smart people,
3:191 who remember Allah standing, sitting and lying down, and think about the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, prayerfully saying, “Our Lord, You haven’t created this in vain, Glory be to You! Save us from the punishment of the Fire.
3:192 Our Lord, anyone You assign to the Fire is humiliated; the evildoers shall have no helpers.
3:193 Our Lord, we heard a crier calling to faith; ‘Believe in your Lord,’ so we believed. Our Lord, forgive our sins, delete our evil deeds, and when we die count us among the righteous.
3:194 Our Lord, give us what You’ve promised us through Your messengers and do not humiliate us on the Day of Judgement; indeed, You do not break Your promise.
3:195 Their Lord answered the prayer, saying, “I will not allow the deeds of any of you, male or a female, to go to waste; you will both get the same reward. As for those who migrated, those expelled from their homes, those who suffered in My way, those who fought, and those who were killed, I will certainly delete their evil deeds, and I will certainly admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow. This is their reward from Allah; and Allah gives the best reward
3:196 Don’t be deceived by the disbelievers’ commercial trade through the land;
3:197 it’s a temporary provision, and their final home will be Hell. What a wretched place!
3:198 However, those who are mindful of their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will live forever, a resting place provided by Allah. Most wonderful is that which Allah has prepared for the righteous.
3:199 Among the People of The Book are those who believe in Allah and what has been revealed to you and to them; they are humble towards Allah, not selling Allah’s verses for a small sum of money; such people shall find their reward with their Lord. Allah is swift in settling accounts.
3:200 Believers, be patient, encourage each other to be patient, be disciplined, and be mindful of Allah so that you may prosper. In the name of Allah, the Kind, the Caring
