| Arabic | | وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا لَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِ مِن شَيْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلَا آبَاؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِ مِن شَيْءٍ كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَهَلْ عَلَى الرُّسُلِ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِين |  |

| we (would) have worshipped | ʿabadnā | عَبَدْنَا | ع ب د | |
| other than Him | dūnihi | دُونِهِ | د و ن | |
| our forefathers | ābāunā | ءَابَاؤُنَا | ا ب و | |
| we (would) have forbidden | ḥarramnā | حَرَّمْنَا | ح ر م | |
| other than Him | dūnihi | دُونِهِ | د و ن | |
| anything." | shayin | شَيْءٍ | ش ى ء | |
| Thus | kadhālika | كَذَلِكَ | ذ ل ك | |
| those who | alladhīna | الَّذِينَ | ا ل ل ذ ى | |
| before them, | qablihim | قَبْلِهِمْ | ق ب ل | |
| Then is (there) | fahal | فَهَلْ | ه ل | |
| the messengers | l-rusuli | الرُّسُلِ | ر س ل | |
| the conveyance | l-balāghu | الْبَلَاغُ | ب ل غ | |
| clear? | l-mubīnu | الْمُبِينُ | ب ى ن | |
