And He it is Who has made the night a garment for you, and sleep a rest. And He has made the day a time of rising to life and going about (for daily livelihood)
He is the One Who has made the night a mantle for you, and sleep a rest, and made the day to rise up again
Dr. Munir Munshey
It is He Who made the night don the decor that is fit for sleeping; and He made the sleep invigorating for you. He made the day a time to wake up
Dr. Kamal Omar
And He it is Who made to you the night as a covering, and the sleep as a repose in tranquility; and He made the day as coming up into a new life [sleep is very similar to death, and rising from sleep is very similar to Resurrection]
It is He Who has made the night as a covering mantle for you and (Who has made) sleep for (a short) rest (as well as a sign of eternal rest - the death), and (has made) the day for rising up and going about (to seek livelihood and also a sign of Resurrection)
And He is the One Who has made the night a (wrapper-like) covering for you and made sleep (a means of) rest (for you) and the day a time to get up (for work)
And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushoor (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after ones sleep at night or like resurrection after ones death)
It is He who made the night a cover for you and sleep a form of death... And made the day a time for rising (awakening).
Sayyed Abbas Sadr-Ameli
And He it is Who appointed the night for you to be a covering, and sleep as a rest, and He appointed the day a rising
Al-muntakhab fi tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim
And He is it Who made the night a vestment, and black was the colour chosen to absorb all light and sleep -the medicine to weariness and the repairer of decay- a repose -which if profound suggests death- and We made the day a phase of revival and resurrection of activity
