And We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, authenticating what is between your hands of the Book and superseding it. So judge between them by what God has sent down, and do not follow their desires from what has come to you of the truth. 45:18
Thumma Ja`alnāka `Alá Sharī`atin Mina Al-'Amri Fa Attabi`hā Wa Lā Tattabi` 'Ahwā'a Al-Ladhīna Lā Ya`lamūna
Then We have established you on the path of things; so follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.
45:23
'Afara'ayta Mani Attakhadha 'Ilahahu Hawāhu Wa 'AĐallahu Allāhu `Alá `Ilmin Wa Khatama `Alá Sam`ihi Wa Qalbihi Wa Ja`ala `Alá Başarihi Ghishāwatan Faman Yahdīhi Min Ba`di Allāhi 'Afalā Tadhakkarūna
Have you seen the one who took his desire as his god, and God led him astray, despite his knowledge, and He sealed his hearing and his heart, and He made a veil on his eyes? Who then can guide him after God? Will you not remember?
47:14
'Afaman Kāna `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbihi Kaman Zuyyina Lahu Sū'u `Amalihi Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwā'ahum
Is he who is based on proof from his Lord, as he for whom his evil works have been adorned for him and they followed their desires?
47:16
Wa Minhum Man Yastami`u 'Ilayka Ĥattá 'Idhā Kharajū Min `Indika Qālū Lilladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Mādhā Qāla 'Ānifāan 'Ūlā'ika Al-Ladhīna Ţaba`a Allāhu `Alá Qulūbihim Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwā'ahum
And some of them listen to you, until when they go out from you, they say to those who have been given the knowledge: What did he say? Those are the ones whom God has sealed their hearts, and they followed their desires.
53:3
Wa Mā Yanţiqu `Ani Al-Hawá
Nor does he speak from personal desire.
54:3
Wa Kadhdhabū Wa Attaba`ū 'Ahwā'ahum Wa Kullu 'Amrin Mustaqirrun
And they disbelieved, and followed their desires, and every old tradition.
79:40
Wa 'Ammā Man Khāfa Maqāma Rabbihi Wa Nahá An-Nafsa `Ani Al-Hawá
And as for he who feared the station of his Lord, and prohibited the self from desire.

Say: "Shall we call upon other than God what cannot benefit us or harm us, and we turn back on our heels after God has guided us?" This is like the one whom the devils have managed to mislead on the earth, he is confused, having friends who call him to the guidance: "Come to us!" Say: "The guidance is the guidance of God, and we have been ordered to submit to the Lord of the worlds."
