15:14
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابا ً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيه ِِ يَعْرُجُونَ
Wa Law Fataĥnā `Alayhim Bābāan Mina As-Samā'i Fažallū Fīhi Ya`rujūna
And if We opened for them a gate in the heaven and they were to continue ascending into it,
16:58
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِالأُنثَى ظَلَّ وَجْهُه ُُ مُسْوَدّا ً وَهُوَ كَظِيم ٌ
Wa 'Idhā Bushshira 'Aĥaduhum Bil-'Unthá žalla Wajhuhu Muswaddāan Wa Huwa Kažīmun
And when one of them is given news of a female, his face becomes darkened and he is in grief!
20:97
قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ أَنْ تَقُولَ لاَ مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدا ً لَنْ تُخْلَفَه ُُ وَانظُرْ إِلَى إِلَهِكَ الَّذِي ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفا ً لَنُحَرِّقَنَّه ُُ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّه ُُ فِي الْيَمِّ نَسْفا ً
Qāla Fādh/hab Fa'inna Laka Fī Al-Ĥayāati 'An Taqūla Lā Misāsa Wa 'Inna Laka Maw`idāan Lan Tukhlafahu Wa Anžur 'Ilá 'Ilahika Al-Ladhī žalta `Alayhi `Ākifāan Lanuĥarriqannahu Thumma Lanansifannahu Fī Al-Yammi Nasfāan
He said: "Then be gone, for you will have it in this life to say: "I am not to be touched" And you will have an appointed time which you will not forsake. And look to your god that you remained devoted to, we will burn him, then we will destroy him in the sea completely."
26:4
إِنْ نَشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَة ً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ
'In Nasha' Nunazzil `Alayhim Mina As-Samā'i 'Āyatan Fažallat 'A`nāquhum Lahā KhāĐi`īna
If We wish, We could send down for them from the heavens a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
30:51
وَلَئِنْ أَرْسَلْنَا رِيحا ً فَرَأَوْهُ مُصْفَرّا ً لَظَلُّوا مِنْ بَعْدِه ِِ يَكْفُرُونَ
Wa La'in 'Arsalnā Rīĥāan Fara'awhu Muşfarrāan Lažallū Min Ba`dihi Yakfurūna
And if We chose to send a wind and they see it turn yellow, they will continue to be rejecters after it.
43:17
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ مَثَلا ً ظَلَّ وَجْهُه ُُ مُسْوَدّا ً وَهُوَ كَظِيم ٌ
Wa 'Idhā Bushshira 'Aĥaduhum Bimā Đaraba Lilrraĥmani Mathalāan žalla Wajhuhu Muswaddāan Wa Huwa Kažīmun
And if one of them is given news of that which he puts forth as an example for the Almighty, his face becomes dark, and he is miserable!
56:65
لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاه ُُ حُطَاما ً فَظَلَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
Law Nashā'u Laja`alnāhu Ĥuţāmāan Fažalaltum Tafakkahūna
If We wished, We can turn them into hay. Then you will be left in wonderment:

قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَاما ً فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ
Qālū Na`budu 'Aşnāmāan Fanažallu Lahā `Ākifīna
They said: "We worship statues; thus we stay devoted to them."

42:33
إِنْ يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ~ِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَات ٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّار ٍ شَكُور ٍ
'In Yasha' Yuskini Ar-Rīĥa Fayažlalna Rawākida `Alá žahrihi 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Likulli Şabbārin Shakūrin
If He willed, He could still the winds, leaving them motionless on top of it. In that are signs for every one who is patient, thankful.

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّات ٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدا ً لَهُمْ فِيهَا أَزْوَاج ٌ مُطَهَّرَة ٌ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلاَّ ظَلِيلا ً
Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Sanudkhiluhum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā 'Abadāan Lahum Fīhā 'Azwājun Muţahharatun Wa Nudkhiluhum žillā žalīlāan
And those who believe and do good, We will admit them to estates with rivers flowing beneath them; abiding therein eternally, in it they will have pure mates, and We will admit them to a vast shade.
77:31
لاَ ظَلِيل ٍ وَلاَ يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ
Lā žalīlin Wa Lā Yughnī Mina Al-Lahabi
Neither does it shade, nor does it avail from the flames.

13:15
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ طَوْعا ً وَكَرْها ً وَظِلاَلُهُمْ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالآصَالِ
Wa Lillahi Yasjudu Man Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'ArĐi Ţaw`āan Wa Karhāan Wa žilāluhum Bil-Ghudūwi Wa Al-'Āşāli
And to God will prostrate all who are in the heavens and the earth, willingly and unwillingly, as do their shadows in the morning and the evening.
13:35
مَثَلُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ أُكُلُهَا دَائِم ٌ وَظِلُّهَا تِلْكَ عُقْبَى الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوا وَعُقْبَى الْكَافِرِينَ النَّارُ
Mathalu Al-Jannati Allatī Wu`ida Al-Muttaqūna Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru 'Ukuluhā Dā'imun Wa žilluhā Tilka `Uqbá Al-Ladhīna Attaqaw Wa `Uqbá Al-Kāfirīna An-Nāru
The example of the Paradise which the righteous are promised, is that rivers flow beneath it, and its provisions are continuous as is its shade. Such is the abode of those who were righteous, while the abode of the rejecters is the Fire.
16:48
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ يَتَفَيَّأُ ظِلاَلُه ُُ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَالشَّمَائِلِ سُجَّدا ً لِلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَاخِرُونَ
'Awalam Yaraw 'Ilá Mā Khalaqa Allāhu Min Shay'in Yatafayya'u žilāluhu `Ani Al-Yamīni Wa Ash-Shamā'ili Sujjadāan Lillāhi Wa Hum Dākhirūna
Have they not seen that what God has created of a thing, its shadow inclines to the right and the left in prostration to God; and they are humbled!
16:81
وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلاَلا ً وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ أَكْنَانا ً وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَابِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ الْحَرَّ وَسَرَابِيلَ تَقِيكُمْ بَأْسَكُمْ كَذَلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَه ُُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُونَ
Wa Allāhu Ja`ala Lakum Mimmā Khalaqa žilālāan Wa Ja`ala Lakum Mina Al-Jibāli 'Aknānāan Wa Ja`ala Lakum Sarābīla Taqīkumu Al-Ĥarra Wa Sarābīla Taqīkum Ba'sakum Kadhālika Yutimmu Ni`matahu `Alaykum La`allakum Tuslimūna
And God has made for you shade from what He has created, and He has made from the mountains a refuge for you, and He has made for you garments which protect you from the heat, and garments which protect you from attack. It is such that He completes His blessings upon you, that perhaps you may submit.
25:45
أَلَمْ تَرَى إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَه ُُ سَاكِنا ً ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلا ً
'Alam Tará 'Ilá Rabbika Kayfa Madda Až-žilla Wa Law Shā'a Laja`alahu Sākināan Thumma Ja`alnā Ash-Shamsa `Alayhi Dalīlāan
Did you not see to your Lord how He casts the shadow? And if He wished, He could have made it still, then We would have made the sun as a guide to it.
28:24
فَسَقَى لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّى إِلَى الظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْر ٍ فَقِير ٌ
Fasaqá Lahumā Thumma Tawallá 'Ilá Až-žilli Faqāla Rabbi 'Innī Limā 'Anzalta 'Ilayya Min Khayrin Faqīrun
So he drew water for them, then he turned to a shaded area, and he said: "My Lord, I am poor, lacking any provisions You may have sent down."
35:21
وَلاَ الظِّلُّ وَلاَ الْحَرُورُ
Wa Lā Až-žillu Wa Lā Al-Ĥarūru
Nor are the shade and the heat.
36:56
هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلاَلٍ عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ
Hum Wa 'Azwājuhum Fī žilālin `Alá Al-'Arā'iki Muttaki'ūna
Both them and their spouses, they will be shaded, reclining on raised couches.
56:30
وَظِلّ ٍ مَمْدُود ٍ
Wa žillin Mamdūdin
And extended shade.
56:43
وَظِلّ ٍ مِنْ يَحْمُوم ٍ
Wa žillin Min Yaĥmūmin
And a shade that is unpleasant.
76:14
وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلاَلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلا ً
Wa Dāniyatan `Alayhim žilāluhā Wa Dhullilat Quţūfuhā Tadhlīlāan
And the shade is close upon them, and the fruit is hanging low within reach.
77:30
انطَلِقُوا إِلَى ظِلّ ٍ ذِي ثَلاَثِ شُعَب ٍ
Anţaliqū 'Ilá žillin Dhī Thalāthi Shu`abin
Away with you to a shadow with three columns.
77:41
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلاَل ٍ وَعُيُون ٍ
'Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī žilālin Wa `Uyūnin
The righteous are among shades and springs.

2:210
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي ظُلَل ٍ مِنَ الْغَمَامِ وَالْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَقُضِيَ الأَمْرُ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الأُمُورُ
Hal Yanžurūna 'Illā 'An Ya'tiyahumu Allāhu Fī žulalin Mina Al-Ghamāmi Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Wa QuĐiya Al-'Amru Wa 'Ilá Allāhi Turja`u Al-'Umūru
Are they waiting for God to come to them shadowed in clouds with the angels? The matter would then be finished! And to God all matters are returned.
7:171
وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا الْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّه ُُ ظُلَّة ٌ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّه ُُ وَاقِع ٌ بِهِمْ خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّة ٍ وَاذْكُرُوا مَا فِيه ِِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
Wa 'Idh Nataqnā Al-Jabala Fawqahum Ka'annahu žullatun Wa žannū 'Annahu Wāqi`un Bihim Khudhū Mā 'Ātaynākum Biqūwatin Wa Adhkurū Mā Fīhi La`allakum Tattaqūna
And We raised the mountain above them as if it were a cloud, and they thought it would fall on them: "Take what We have given you with strength and remember what is in it that you may be righteous."
26:189
فَكَذَّبُوه ُُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ إِنَّه ُُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيم ٍ
Fakadhdhabūhu Fa'akhadhahum `Adhābu Yawmi Až-žullati 'Innahu Kāna `Adhāba Yawmin `Ažīmin
But they denied him, so the retribution of the day of shadow took them. It was the retribution of a terrible day.
31:32
وَإِذَا غَشِيَهُمْ مَوْج ٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوْا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ فَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِد ٌ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلاَّ كُلُّ خَتَّار ٍ كَفُور ٍ
Wa 'Idhā Ghashiyahum Mawjun Kālžžulali Da`aw Allāha Mukhlişīna Lahu Ad-Dīna Falammā Najjāhum 'Ilá Al-Barri Faminhum Muqtaşidun Wa Mā Yajĥadu Bi'āyātinā 'Illā Kullu Khattārin Kafūrin
And when waves surround them like mountains, they call on God, sincerely devoting the system to Him. But when He saves them to the shore, some of them return. None discard Our signs except those who are betrayers, rejecters.
39:16
لَهُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَل ٌ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمِنْ تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَل ٌ ذَلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِه ِِ عِبَادَه ُُ يَاعِبَادِ فَاتَّقُونِ
Lahum Min Fawqihim žulalun Mina An-Nāri Wa Min Taĥtihim žulalun Dhālika Yukhawwifu Allāhu Bihi `Ibādahu Yā `Ibādi Fa Attaqūni
They will have coverings of fire from above them and below them. It is as such that God makes His servants fearful: O My servants, you shall reverence Me.
39:16
لَهُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَل ٌ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمِنْ تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَل ٌ ذَلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللَّهُ بِه ِِ عِبَادَه ُُ يَاعِبَادِ فَاتَّقُونِ
Lahum Min Fawqihim žulalun Mina An-Nāri Wa Min Taĥtihim žulalun Dhālika Yukhawwifu Allāhu Bihi `Ibādahu Yā `Ibādi Fa Attaqūni
They will have coverings of fire from above them and below them. It is as such that God makes His servants fearful: O My servants, you shall reverence Me.

وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَكِنْ كَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Wa žallalnā `Alaykumu Al-Ghamāma Wa 'Anzalnā `Alaykumu Al-Manna Wa As-Salwá Kulū Min Ţayyibāti Mā Razaqnākum Wa Mā žalamūnā Wa Lakin Kānū 'Anfusahum Yažlimūna
And We shaded you with clouds, and sent down to you manna and quails: "Eat from the goodness of the provisions We have provided you." They did not wrong Us, but it was their souls that they wronged.
7:160
وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطاً أُمَما ً وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى إِذْ اسْتَسْقَاه ُُ قَوْمُهُ~ُ أَنِ اضْرِب بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ فَانْبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنا ً قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاس ٍ مَشْرَبَهُمْ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَكِنْ كَانُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Wa Qaţţa`nāhumu Athnatay `Ashrata 'Asbāţāan 'Umamāan Wa 'Awĥaynā 'Ilá Mūsá 'Idh Astasqāhu Qawmuhu 'Ani AĐrib Bi`aşāka Al-Ĥajara Fānbajasat Minhu Athnatā `Ashrata `Aynāan Qad `Alima Kullu 'Unāsin Mashrabahum Wa žallalnā `Alayhimu Al-Ghamāma Wa 'Anzalnā `Alayhimu Al-Manna Wa As-Salwá Kulū Min Ţayyibāti Mā Razaqnākum Wa Mā žalamūnā Wa Lakin Kānū 'Anfusahum Yažlimūna
And We separated them into twelve patriarch nations; and We inspired Moses when his people wanted to drink: "Strike the stone with your staff," thus twelve springs burst out of it. Each people then knew from where to drink. And We shaded them with clouds and We sent down to them manna and quail: "Eat from the good things that We have provided for you." They did not wrong Us, but it was their souls that they wronged.
