6:25
Wa Minhum Man Yastami`u 'Ilayka Wa Ja`alnā `Alá Qulūbihim 'Akinnatan 'An Yafqahūhu Wa Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrāan Wa 'In Yaraw Kulla 'Āyatin Lā Yu'uminū Bihā Ĥattá 'Idhā Jā'ūka Yujādilūnaka Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'In Hādhā 'Illā 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna
And from them are those who listen to you; and We have made covers over their hearts to prevent them from understanding it, and a deafness in their ears; and if they see every sign they will not believe; even when they come to you they argue, those who reject say: "This is nothing except fictional tales of old!"
17:46
Wa Ja`alnā `Alá Qulūbihim 'Akinnatan 'An Yafqahūhu Wa Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrāan Wa 'Idhā Dhakarta Rabbaka Fī Al-Qur'āni Waĥdahu Wa Llaw `Alá 'Adbārihim Nufūrāan
And we place shields over their hearts, that they should not understand it, and a deafness in their ears. And if you mention your Lord in the Qur'an alone, they run away turning their backs in aversion.
18:57
Wa Man 'Ažlamu Mimman Dhukkira Bi'āyāti Rabbihi Fa'a`raĐa `Anhā Wa Nasiya Mā Qaddamat Yadāhu 'Innā Ja`alnā `Alá Qulūbihim 'Akinnatan 'An Yafqahūhu Wa Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrāan Wa 'In Tad`uhum 'Ilá Al-Hudá Falan Yahtadū 'Idhāan 'Abadāan
And who is more wicked than he who was reminded of the revelations of his Lord but he turned away from them, and he forgot what his hands had done. We have made veils upon their hearts from understanding it, and a deafness in their ears. And if you invite them to the guidance, they will never be guided.
31:7
Wa 'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Wallá Mustakbirāan Ka'an Lam Yasma`hā Ka'anna Fī 'Udhunayhi Waqrāan Fabashshirhu Bi`adhābin 'Alīmin
And when Our revelations are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he did not hear them, as if there is a deafness in his ears. So announce to him a painful retribution.
41:5
Wa Qālū Qulūbunā Fī 'Akinnatin Mimmā Tad`ūnā 'Ilayhi Wa Fī 'Ādhāninā Waqrun Wa Min Bayninā Wa Baynika Ĥijābun Fā`mal 'Innanā `Āmilūna
And they said: Our hearts are sealed from what you invite us to, and in our ears is a deafness, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do what you will, and so will we.
41:44
Wa Law Ja`alnāhu Qur'ānāan 'A`jamīyāan Laqālū Lawlā Fuşşilat 'Āyātuhu 'A'a`jamīyun Wa `Arabīyun Qul Huwa Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Hudáan Wa Shifā'un Wa Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrun Wa Huwa `Alayhim `Amáan 'Ūlā'ika Yunādawna Min Makānin Ba`īdin
And had We made it a non-Arabic Quran, they would have said: If only its revelations were made clear! Non-Arabic and Arabic, say: For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, there is deafness in their ears, and they are blind to it. These will be called from a place far away.
