Wa Qāla Al-Mala'u Min Qawmihi Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Kadhdhabū Biliqā'i Al-'Ākhirati Wa 'Atrafnāhum Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Mā Hādhā 'Illā Basharun Mithlukum Ya'kulu Mimmā Ta'kulūna Minhu Wa Yashrabu Mimmā Tashrabūna
And the leaders from among his people who rejected and denied the meeting of the Hereafter; and We indulged them in this worldly life; said: "What is this but a human being like you? He eats from what you eat and he drinks from what you drink."
perf. pass.
11:116
Falawlā Kāna Mina Al-Qurūni Min Qablikum 'Ūlū Baqīyatin Yanhawna `Ani Al-Fasādi Fī Al-'ArĐi 'Illā Qalīlāan Mimman 'Anjaynā Minhum Wa Attaba`a Al-Ladhīna žalamū Mā 'Utrifū Fīhi Wa Kānū Mujrimīna
If only there was from the previous generations a people with wisdom who prohibited corruption on the earth, except the few that We saved of them. And those who were wicked followed the enjoyment they were in, and they were criminal.
21:13
Lā TarkuĐū Wa Arji`ū 'Ilá Mā 'Utriftum Fīhi Wa Masākinikum La`allakum Tus'alūna
"Do not run, and come back to that which you were living lavishly in and your homes; so that you will be questioned."
pcple. pass.
17:16
Wa 'Idhā 'Aradnā 'An Nuhlika Qaryatan 'Amarnā Mutrafīhā Fafasaqū Fīhā Faĥaqqa `Alayhā Al-Qawlu Fadammarnāhā Tadmīrāan
And if We wish to destroy a town, We allow its carefree to rule it, then they commit wickedness in it, then it deserves the punishment, then We destroy it completely.
23:64
Ĥattá 'Idhā 'Akhadhnā Mutrafīhim Bil-`Adhābi 'Idhā Hum Yaj'arūna
Until We take their carefree people with the retribution, then they will shout for help.
34:34
Wa Mā 'Arsalnā Fī Qaryatin Min Nadhīrin 'Illā Qāla Mutrafūhā 'Innā Bimā 'Ursiltum Bihi Kāfirūna
And We do not send a warner to any town, except its carefree ones would say: We reject what you have been sent with.
43:23
Wa Kadhalika Mā 'Arsalnā Min Qablika Fī Qaryatin Min Nadhīrin 'Illā Qāla Mutrafūhā 'Innā Wajadnā 'Ābā'anā `Alá 'Ummatin Wa 'Innā `Alá 'Āthārihim Muqtadūna
And similarly, We did not send a warner to a town, except its carefree ones said: We found our fathers following a certain way, and we are being guided in their footsteps.
56:45
'Innahum Kānū Qabla Dhālika Mutrafīna
They used to be indulged in luxury before this.
