وَالْبُدْنَ جَعَلْنَاهَا لَكُمْ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ فِيهَا خَيْر ٌ فَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا صَوَافَّ فَإِذَا وَجَبَتْ جُنُوبُهَا فَكُلُوا مِنْهَا وَأَطْعِمُوا الْقَانِعَ وَالْمُعْتَرَّ كَذَلِكَ سَخَّرْنَاهَا لَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Al-Budna Ja`alnāhā Lakum Min Sha`ā'iri Allāhi Lakum Fīhā Khayrun Fādhkurū Asma Allāhi `Alayhā Şawāffa Fa'idhā Wajabat Junūbuhā Fakulū Minhā Wa 'Aţ`imū Al-Qāni`a Wa Al-Mu`tarra Kadhālika Sakhkharnāhā Lakum La`allakum Tashkurūna
And the plump livestock, We have made them for you to be among the symbols of God; you will have benefit in them. So mention the name of God upon them in succession; then, once their sides have become still, you may eat from them and feed with them the poor and the needy. It was thus that We have made them in service to you, that you may be thankful.
24:41
أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُسَبِّحُ لَه ُُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالطَّيْرُ صَافَّات ٍ كُلّ ٌ قَدْ عَلِمَ صَلاَتَه ُُ وَتَسْبِيحَه ُُ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيم ٌ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ
'Alam Tará 'Anna Allāha Yusabbiĥu Lahu Man Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'ArĐi Wa Aţ-Ţayru Şāffātin Kullun Qad `Alima Şalātahu Wa Tasbīĥahu Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Bimā Yaf`alūna
Do you not see that everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies God? Even the birds in formation, each knows its contact prayer and its glorification. And God is fully aware of everything they do.
37:1
وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفّا ً
Wa Aş-Şāffāti Şaffāan
By the columns in formation.
37:165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ
Wa 'Innā Lanaĥnu Aş-Şāffūna
And we are the ones who are in columns.
67:19
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَافَّات ٍ وَيَقْبِضْنَ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلاَّ الرَّحْمَنُ إِنَّه ُُ بِكُلِّ شَيْء ٍ بَصِير ٌ
'Awalam Yaraw 'Ilá Aţ-Ţayri Fawqahum Şāffātin Wa YaqbiĐna Mā Yumsikuhunna 'Illā Ar-Raĥmānu 'Innahu Bikulli Shay'in Başīrun
Have they not looked to the birds lined-up together above them, and they contract? It is the Almighty who holds them. He is Seer of all things.

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَى سُرُر ٍ مَصْفُوفَة ٍ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِين ٍ
Muttaki'īna `Alá Sururin Maşfūfatin Wa Zawwajnāhum Biĥūrin `Īnin
They recline on arranged beds, and We married them to wonderful companions.
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَة ٌ
Wa Namāriqu Maşfūfahun
And cushions arranged in rows.

وَعُرِضُوا عَلَى رَبِّكَ صَفّا ً لَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا كَمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّة ٍ بَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَلَّنْ نَجْعَلَ لَكُمْ مَوْعِدا ً
Wa `UriĐū `Alá Rabbika Şaffāan Laqad Ji'tumūnā Kamā Khalaqnākum 'Awwala Marratin Bal Za`amtum 'Allan Naj`ala Lakum Maw`idāan
And they are displayed before your Lord as a column: "You have come to Us as We had created you the first time. No, you claimed We would not make for you an appointed time!"
20:64
فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفّا ً وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْيَوْمَ مَنِ اسْتَعْلَى
Fa'ajmi`ū Kaydakum Thumma A'tū Şaffāan Wa Qad 'Aflaĥa Al-Yawma Mani Asta`lá
"So agree your plan, then come as one front. Whoever wins today will succeed."
37:1
وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفّا ً
Wa Aş-Şāffāti Şaffāan
By the columns in formation.
61:4
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِه ِِ صَفّا ً كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنيَان ٌ مَرْصُوص ٌ
'Inna Allāha Yuĥibbu Al-Ladhīna Yuqātilūna Fī Sabīlihi Şaffāan Ka'annahum Bunyānun Marşūşun
God loves those who fight in His cause as one column; they are like bricks in a wall.
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلاَئِكَةُ صَفّا ً لاَ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلاَّ مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابا ً
Yawma Yaqūmu Ar-Rūĥu Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Şaffāan Lā Yatakallamūna 'Illā Man 'Adhina Lahu Ar-Raĥmānu Wa Qāla Şawābāan
The Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in line, none will speak unless the Almighty permits him and he speaks what is true.
89:22
وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفّا ً صَفّا ً
Wa Jā'a Rabbuka Wa Al-Malaku Şaffāan Şaffāan
And your Lord comes with the angels row after row.
