Kh-Ya-Ba
Fail of attaining a desire or what is sought, to be denied/prohibted/debarred from what one desires or seeks, disappointed or frustrated, suffer loss, habitually unsuccessful.
khaba
vb. (1) perf. act.
14:15
وَاسْتَفْتَحُوا وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيد ٍ
Wa Astaftaĥū Wa Khāba Kullu Jabbārin `Anīdin
And they sought victory, and every arrogant tyrant was then made to lose.
20:61
قَالَ لَهُمْ مُوسَى وَيْلَكُمْ لاَ تَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبا ً فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ بِعَذَاب ٍ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ افْتَرَى
Qāla Lahum Mūsá Waylakum Lā Taftarū `Alá Allāhi Kadhibāan Fayusĥitakum Bi`adhābin Wa Qad Khāba Mani Aftará
Moses said to them: "Woe to you, do not invent lies about God, else the retribution will take you, and miserable is the one who invents."
20:111
وَعَنَتِ الْوُجُوه ُُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّومِ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْما ً
Wa `Anati Al-Wujūhu Lilĥayyi Al-Qayyūmi Wa Qad Khāba Man Ĥamala žulmāan
And the faces shall be humbled for the Eternal, the Living. And whoever carried wickedness with him has failed.
91:10
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا
Wa Qad Khāba Man Dassāhā
And failing is the one who hides it.

3:127
لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفا ً مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنْقَلِبُوا خَائِبِينَ
Liyaqţa`a Ţarafāan Mina Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'Aw Yakbitahum Fayanqalibū Khā'ibīna
Thus He will sever a group of those who reject, or disgrace them; then they will turn back frustrated.
