Kh-Tay-Fa
To seize/take/carry off a thing by force, take or seize a thing quickly (snatch it away), suddenly take away, move along quickly (quickness in pace or going), cut a thing short (such as a discourse or narrative), barely miss a thing (and also to nearly hit a thing), be lean or lank in the belly (lightness of the flesh of the sides), to be mad or diabolically possessed.

37:10
إِلاَّ مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَه ُُ شِهَاب ٌ ثَاقِبا ٌ
'Illā Man Khaţifa Al-Khaţfata Fa'atba`ahu Shihābun Thāqibāun
Any of them who snatches a part, he is pursued by a piercing flame.

2:20
يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ كُلَّمَا أَضَاءَ لَهُمْ مَشَوْا فِيه ِِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُوا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ قَدِير ٌ
Yakādu Al-Barqu Yakhţafu 'Abşārahum Kullamā 'AĐā'a Lahum Mashaw Fīhi Wa 'Idhā 'Ažlama `Alayhim Qāmū Wa Law Shā'a Allāhu Ladhahaba Bisam`ihim Wa 'Abşārihim 'Inna Allāha `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun
The lightning nearly snatches their sight, whenever it lights the path they walk in it, and when it becomes dark for them they stand. Had God willed, He would have taken their hearing and their sight; God is capable of all things.
22:31
حُنَفَاءَ لِلَّهِ غَيْرَ مُشْرِكِينَ بِه ِِ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَتَخْطَفُهُ الطَّيْرُ أَوْ تَهْوِي بِهِ الرِّيحُ فِي مَكَان ٍ سَحِيق ٍ
Ĥunafā'a Lillāhi Ghayra Mushrikīna Bihi Wa Man Yushrik Billāhi Faka'annamā Kharra Mina As-Samā'i Fatakhţafuhu Aţ-Ţayru 'Aw Tahwī Bihi Ar-Rīĥu Fī Makānin Saĥīqin
Monotheists to God, not setting up anything with Him. And whoever sets up partners with God, then it is as if he has fallen from the sky and the birds snatch him or the wind takes him to a place far off.

وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ أَنْتُمْ قَلِيل ٌ مُسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَنْ يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ النَّاسُ فَآوَاكُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُمْ بِنَصْرِه ِِ وَرَزَقَكُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Adhkurū 'Idh 'Antum Qalīlun MustaĐ`afūna Fī Al-'ArĐi Takhāfūna 'An Yatakhaţţafakumu An-Nāsu Fa'āwākum Wa 'Ayyadakum Binaşrihi Wa Razaqakum Mina Aţ-Ţayyibāti La`allakum Tashkurūna
And remember when you were but a few who were weak in the land, you were fearful that the people might capture you. But He sheltered you, and He supported you with His victory, and He provided you with good provisions, so that you may be thankful.

28:57
وَقَالُوا إِنْ نَتَّبِعِ الْهُدَى مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَا أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّنْ لَهُمْ حَرَما ً آمِنا ً يُجْبَى إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَاتُ كُلِّ شَيْء ٍ رِزْقا ً مِنْ لَدُنَّا وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Qālū 'In Nattabi`i Al-Hudá Ma`aka Nutakhaţţaf Min 'ArĐinā 'Awalam Numakkin Lahum Ĥaramāan 'Āmināan Yujbá 'Ilayhi Thamarātu Kulli Shay'in Rizqāan Min Ladunnā Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum Lā Ya`lamūna
And they said: "If we follow the guidance with you, we will be deposed from our land." Did We not establish for them a safe territory, to which all kinds of fruits are offered, as a provision from Us? Indeed, most of them do not know.
29:67
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَما ً آمِنا ً وَيُتَخَطَّفُ النَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ أَفَبِالْبَاطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ يَكْفُرُونَ
'Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Ja`alnā Ĥaramāan 'Āmināan Wa Yutakhaţţafu An-Nāsu Min Ĥawlihim 'Afabiālbāţili Yu'uminūna Wa Bini`mati Allāhi Yakfurūna
Have they not seen that We have established a safe territory, while all around them the people are in constant danger? Would they still believe in falsehood, and reject the blessings of God?
