To grieve, afflict, overburden, distress, twist a rope, tighten, near or close.
karaba

6:64
قُلِ اللَّهُ يُنَجِّيكُمْ مِنْهَا وَمِنْ كُلِّ كَرْب ٍ ثُمَّ أَنْتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ
Quli Allāhu Yunajjīkum Minhā Wa Min Kulli Karbin Thumma 'Antum Tushrikūna
Say: "God will save you from it and from all distresses, yet you will still set up partners!"
21:76
وَنُوحا ً إِذْ نَادَى مِنْ قَبْلُ فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَه ُُ فَنَجَّيْنَاه ُُ وَأَهْلَه ُُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
Wa Nūĥāan 'Idh Nādá Min Qablu Fāstajabnā Lahu Fanajjaynāhu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažīmi
And Noah when he called out before that, thus We responded to him, and We saved him and his family from the great distress.
37:76
وَنَجَّيْنَاه ُُ وَأَهْلَه ُُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
Wa Najjaynāhu Wa 'Ahlahu Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažīmi
And We saved him and his family from the great disaster.
37:115
وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ
Wa Najjaynāhumā Wa Qawmahumā Mina Al-Karbi Al-`Ažīmi
And We saved them and their people from the great disaster.
