becoming distant, remote, far off, aloof or far away, removed, retired, withdrew to a distance, alienated, estranged, wide separation, great distnce. Possessing judgment and prudence, penetrating, effective judgment, depth or far reaching judgment. Go or going a great length or far in hostility.

9:42
لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضا ً قَرِيبا ً وَسَفَرا ً قَاصِدا ً لاَتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَكِنْ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَوْ اسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
Law Kāna `AraĐāan Qarībāan Wa Safarāan Qāşidāan Lāttaba`ūka Wa Lakin Ba`udat `Alayhimu Ash-Shuqqatu Wa Sayaĥlifūna Billāhi Law Astaţa`nā Lakharajnā Ma`akum Yuhlikūna 'Anfusahum Wa Allāhu Ya`lamu 'Innahum Lakādhibūna
If it were a near gain, or an easy journey, they would have followed you; but the distance was too much for them. And they will swear by God: "If we could have, we would have gone with you." They destroy themselves, and God knows they are liars.

11:95
كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا أَلاَ بُعْدا ً لِمَدْيَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُ
Ka'an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā 'Alā Bu`dāan Limadyana Kamā Ba`idat Thamūdu
It is as if they had never lived there. Away with Midyan as it was away with Thamud.

11:44
وَقِيلَ يَاأَرْضُ ابْلَعِي مَاءَكِ وَيَاسَمَاءُ أَقْلِعِي وَغِيضَ الْمَاءُ وَقُضِيَ الأَمْرُ وَاسْتَوَتْ عَلَى الْجُودِيِّ وَقِيلَ بُعْدا ً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Qīla Yā 'ArĐu Abla`ī Mā'aki Wa Yā Samā'u 'Aqli`ī Wa GhīĐa Al-Mā'u Wa QuĐiya Al-'Amru Wa Astawat `Alá Al-Jūdīyi Wa Qīla Bu`dāan Lilqawmi Až-žālimīna
And it was said: "O land, swallow your water, and O sky, cease." And the water was diminished, and the matter concluded. And it came to rest on the Judi, and it was said: "Away with the wicked people."
11:60
وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَة ً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلاَ إِنَّ عَادا ً كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ أَلاَ بُعْدا ً لِعَاد ٍ قَوْمِ هُود ٍ
Wa 'Utbi`ū Fī Hadhihi Ad-Dunyā La`natan Wa Yawma Al-Qiyāmati 'Alā 'Inna `Ādāan Kafarū Rabbahum 'Alā Bu`dāan Li`ādin Qawmi Hūdin
And they were followed by a curse in this world and on the Day of Judgment, for 'Aad rejected their Lord. So away with 'Aad, the people of Hud.
11:68
كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا أَلاَ إِنَّ ثَمُودَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ أَلاَ بُعْدا ً لِثَمُودَ
Ka'an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā 'Alā 'Inna Thamūda Kafarū Rabbahum 'Alā Bu`dāan Lithamūda
It is as if they had never lived there. For Thamud rejected their Lord. So away with Thamud.
11:95
كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا أَلاَ بُعْدا ً لِمَدْيَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُ
Ka'an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā 'Alā Bu`dāan Limadyana Kamā Ba`idat Thamūdu
It is as if they had never lived there. Away with Midyan as it was away with Thamud.
23:41
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ غُثَاء ً فَبُعْدا ً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Fa'akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Bil-Ĥaqqi Faja`alnāhum Ghuthā'an Fabu`dāan Lilqawmi Až-žālimīna
So the scream took them with justice, and We made them as dead plants. So away with the wicked people.
23:44
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا كُلَّ مَا جَاءَ أُمَّة ً رَسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوه ُُ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ بَعْضا ً وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ فَبُعْدا ً لِقَوْم ٍ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Thumma 'Arsalnā Rusulanā Tatrā Kulla Mā Jā'a 'Ummatan Rasūluhā Kadhdhabūhu Fa'atba`nā Ba`Đahum Ba`Đāan Wa Ja`alnāhum 'Aĥādītha Fabu`dāan Liqawmin Lā Yu'uminūna
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation their messenger, they denied him. So We made them follow one another, and We let them become narrations. So away with a people who do not believe!
43:38
حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَنَا قَالَ يَالَيْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرِينُ
Ĥattá 'Idhā Jā'anā Qāla Yā Layta Baynī Wa Baynaka Bu`da Al-Mashriqayni Fabi'sa Al-Qarīnu
Until he comes to Us, he will say, Oh, I wish that between you and me was the distance of the two easts. What a miserable associate!

2:176
ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ اخْتَلَفُوا فِي الْكِتَابِ لَفِي شِقَاق ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Dhālika Bi'anna Allāha Nazzala Al-Kitāba Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Akhtalafū Fī Al-Kitābi Lafī Shiqāqin Ba`īdin
This is because God has sent down the Book with the truth; and those who have disputed about the Book are in far opposition.
3:30
يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْس ٍ مَا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْر ٍ مُحْضَرا ً وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ سُوء ٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ~ُ أَمَدا ً بَعِيدا ً وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللَّهُ نَفْسَه ُُ وَاللَّهُ رَءُوف ٌ بِالْعِبَادِ
Yawma Tajidu Kullu Nafsin Mā `Amilat Min Khayrin MuĥĐarāan Wa Mā `Amilat Min Sū'in Tawaddu Law 'Anna Baynahā Wa Baynahu 'Amadāan Ba`īdāan Wa Yuĥadhdhirukumu Allāhu Nafsahu Wa Allāhu Ra'ūfun Bil-`Ibādi
The Day every soul will find what good it had done present; and what bad it had done, it will wish that between them was a great distance. And God warns you of Himself, and God is Compassionate towards the servants.
4:60
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَتَحَاكَمُوا إِلَى الطَّاغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوا أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِه ِِ وَيُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلاَلا ً بَعِيدا ً
'Alam Tara 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Yaz`umūna 'Annahum 'Āmanū Bimā 'Unzila 'Ilayka Wa Mā 'Unzila Min Qablika Yurīdūna 'An Yataĥākamū 'Ilá Aţ-Ţāghūti Wa Qad 'Umirū 'An Yakfurū Bihi Wa Yurīdu Ash-Shayţānu 'An YuĐillahum Đalālāan Ba`īdāan
Did you not see those who claimed they believed in what was sent down to you and what was sent before you? They wanted to seek judgment using evil, while they were ordered to reject it. It is the devil who wants to lead them far astray.
4:116
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِه ِِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلاَلا ً بَعِيدا ً
'Inna Allāha Lā Yaghfiru 'An Yushraka Bihi Wa Yaghfiru Mā Dūna Dhālika Liman Yashā'u Wa Man Yushrik Billāhi Faqad Đalla Đalālāan Ba`īdāan
God does not forgive that partners be set up with Him, and He forgives other than that for whom He pleases. Whoever sets up partners with God has indeed strayed a far straying.
4:136
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا آمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِه ِِ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ عَلَى رَسُولِه ِِ وَالْكِتَابِ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلاَئِكَتِه ِِ وَكُتُبِه ِِ وَرُسُلِه ِِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلاَلا ً بَعِيدا ً
Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Āminū Billāhi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Al-Kitābi Al-Ladhī Nazzala `Alá Rasūlihi Wa Al-Kitābi Al-Ladhī 'Anzala Min Qablu Wa Man Yakfur Billāhi Wa Malā'ikatihi Wa Kutubihi Wa Rusulihi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Faqad Đalla Đalālāan Ba`īdāan
O you who believe; believe in God and His messenger, and the Book which was sent down to His messenger, and the Book which was sent before. And whoever rejects God, and His angels, and His Books, and His messengers, and the Last Day; then he has strayed a far straying.
4:167
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا ضَلاَلا ً بَعِيدا ً
'Inna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Şaddū `An Sabīli Allāhi Qad Đallū Đalālāan Ba`īdāan
Those who have rejected and turned away from the path of God, they have strayed a far straying.
11:83
مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ بِبَعِيد ٍ
Musawwamatan `Inda Rabbika Wa Mā Hiya Mina Až-žālimīna Biba`īdin
Marked from your Lord, and they are never far from the wicked.
11:89
وَيَا قَوْمِ لاَ يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِي أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَالِح ٍ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوط ٍ مِنْكُمْ بِبَعِيد ٍ
Wa Yā Qawmi Lā Yajrimannakum Shiqāqī 'An Yuşībakum Mithlu Mā 'Aşāba Qawma Nūĥin 'Aw Qawma Hūdin 'Aw Qawma Şāliĥin Wa Mā Qawmu Lūţin Minkum Biba`īdin
"And my people, let not your hatred towards me incriminate you that you suffer the fate of what afflicted the people of Noah, or the people of Hud, or the people of Saleh; and the people of Lot were not far off from you."
14:3
الَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَى الآخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاً أُوْلَائِكَ فِي ضَلاَل ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Al-Ladhīna Yastaĥibbūna Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā `Alá Al-'Ākhirati Wa Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Allāhi Wa Yabghūnahā `Iwajāan 'Ūlā'ika Fī Đalālin Ba`īdin
The ones who have preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter, and they repel from the path of God, and they seek to make it crooked. Those are the ones who are in misguidance.
14:18
مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ كَرَمَاد ٍ اشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الرِّيحُ فِي يَوْمٍ عَاصِف ٍ لاَ يَقْدِرُونَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا عَلَى شَيْء ٍ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الضَّلاَلُ الْبَعِيدُ
Mathalu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Birabbihim 'A`māluhum Karamādin Ashtaddat Bihi Ar-Rīĥu Fī Yawmin `Āşifin Lā Yaqdirūna Mimmā Kasabū `Alá Shay'in Dhālika Huwa AĐ-Đalālu Al-Ba`īdu
The example of those who reject their Lord is that their works are like ashes, upon which the wind blows strongly on a stormy day, they cannot get anything of what they earned. Such is the farthest misguidance.
21:109
فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ آذَنْتُكُمْ عَلَى سَوَاء ٍ وَإِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٌ أَمْ بَعِيد ٌ مَا تُوعَدُونَ
Fa'in Tawallaw Faqul 'Ādhantukum `Alá Sawā'in Wa 'In 'Adrī 'Aqarībun 'Am Ba`īdun Mā Tū`adūna
So if they turn away, then say: "I have given you notice sufficiently, and I do not know if what you are promised is near or far."
22:12
يَدْعُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لاَ يَضُرُّه ُُ وَمَا لاَ يَنْفَعُه ُُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الضَّلاَلُ الْبَعِيدُ
Yad`ū Min Dūni Allāhi Mā Lā YaĐurruhu Wa Mā Lā Yanfa`uhu Dhālika Huwa AĐ-Đalālu Al-Ba`īdu
He calls upon besides God what will not harm him and what will not benefit him. Such is the far straying.
22:53
لِيَجْعَلَ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ فِتْنَة ً لِلَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَض ٌ وَالْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَفِي شِقَاق ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Liyaj`ala Mā Yulqī Ash-Shayţānu Fitnatan Lilladhīna Fī Qulūbihim MaraĐun Wa Al-Qāsiyati Qulūbuhum Wa 'Inna Až-žālimīna Lafī Shiqāqin Ba`īdin
That He may make what the devil has cast as a test for those who have a disease in their hearts and those whose hearts are hardened. And the wicked are far away in opposition.
25:12
إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِنْ مَكَان ٍ بَعِيد ٍ سَمِعُوا لَهَا تَغَيُّظا ً وَزَفِيرا ً
'Idhā Ra'at/hum Min Makānin Ba`īdin Sami`ū Lahā Taghayyužāan Wa Zafīrāan
When it sees them from a far place, they hear it raging and roaring.
27:22
فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيد ٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِه ِِ وَجِئْتُكَ مِنْ سَبَإ ٍ بِنَبَإ ٍ يَقِين ٍ
Famakatha Ghayra Ba`īdin Faqāla 'Aĥaţtu Bimā Lam Tuĥiţ Bihi Wa Ji'tuka Min Saba'iin Binaba'iin Yaqīnin
But the hoopoe did not stay away long, then he said: "I have seen what you do not know, and I have come to you from Sheba with news which is certain."
34:8
أَافْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً أَمْ بِه ِِ جِنَّة ٌ بَلِ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالآخِرَةِ فِي الْعَذَابِ وَالضَّلاَلِ الْبَعِيدِ
'Āftará `Alá Allāhi Kadhibāan 'Am Bihi Jinnatun Bali Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Bil-'Ākhirati Fī Al-`Adhābi Wa AĐ-Đalāli Al-Ba`īdi
Has he invented a lie against God, or is there a madness in him? Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter will be in a retribution and are far straying.
34:52
وَقَالُوا آمَنَّا بِه ِِ وَأَنَّى لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِنْ مَكَان ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Wa Qālū 'Āmannā Bihi Wa 'Anná Lahumu At-Tanāwushu Min Makānin Ba`īdin
And they will say: We believe in it! But it will be far too late.
34:53
وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِه ِِ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَيَقْذِفُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِنْ مَكَان ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Wa Qad Kafarū Bihi Min Qablu Wa Yaqdhifūna Bil-Ghaybi Min Makānin Ba`īdin
And they had rejected it in the past; and they made allegations regarding the unseen, from a place far off.
41:44
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاه ُُ قُرْآناً أَعْجَمِيّا ً لَقَالُوا لَوْلاَ فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ~ُ أَأَعْجَمِيّ ٌ وَعَرَبِيّ ٌ قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدى ً وَشِفَاء ٌ وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْر ٌ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمىً أُوْلَائِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِنْ مَكَان ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Wa Law Ja`alnāhu Qur'ānāan 'A`jamīyāan Laqālū Lawlā Fuşşilat 'Āyātuhu 'A'a`jamīyun Wa `Arabīyun Qul Huwa Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Hudáan Wa Shifā'un Wa Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Fī 'Ādhānihim Waqrun Wa Huwa `Alayhim `Amáan 'Ūlā'ika Yunādawna Min Makānin Ba`īdin
And had We made it a non-Arabic Quran, they would have said: If only its revelations were made clear! Non-Arabic and Arabic, say: For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, there is deafness in their ears, and they are blind to it. These will be called from a place far away.
41:52
قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِه ِِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاق ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Qul 'Ara'aytum 'In Kāna Min `Indi Allāhi Thumma Kafartum Bihi Man 'AĐallu Mimman Huwa Fī Shiqāqin Ba`īdin
Say: Do you see if this was from God and then you rejected it? Who is further astray than those who are in opposition?
42:18
يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا الْحَقُّ أَلاَ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِي السَّاعَةِ لَفِي ضَلاَل ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Yasta`jilu Bihā Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu'uminūna Bihā Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Mushfiqūna Minhā Wa Ya`lamūna 'Annahā Al-Ĥaqqu 'Alā 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Yumārūna Fī As-Sā`ati Lafī Đalālin Ba`īdin
Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it, while those who believe are concerned about it, and they know that it is the truth. Certainly, those who dispute the Hour have gone far astray.
50:3
أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابا ً ذَلِكَ رَجْع ٌ بَعِيد ٌ
'A'idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Dhālika Raj`un Ba`īdun
Can it be that when we are dead and we become dust, that we come back later?
50:27
قَالَ قَرِينُه ُُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُه ُُ وَلَكِنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلاَل ٍ بَعِيد ٍ
Qāla Qarīnuhu Rabbanā Mā 'Aţghaytuhu Wa Lakin Kāna Fī Đalālin Ba`īdin
His associate said: Our Lord, I did not corrupt him, but he was already far astray.
50:31
وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيد ٍ
Wa 'Uzlifati Al-Jannatu Lilmuttaqīna Ghayra Ba`īdin
And the Paradise is brought near to the righteous, not far off.
70:6
إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَه ُُ بَعِيدا ً
'Innahum Yarawnahu Ba`īdāan
They see it as far away.

34:19
فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا بَاعِدْ بَيْنَ أَسْفَارِنَا وَظَلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ وَمَزَّقْنَاهُمْ كُلَّ مُمَزَّق ٍ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَات ٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّار ٍ شَكُور ٍ
Faqālū Rabbanā Bā`id Bayna 'Asfārinā Wa žalamū 'Anfusahum Faja`alnāhum 'Aĥādītha Wa Mazzaqnāhum Kulla Mumazzaqin 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Likulli Şabbārin Shakūrin
But they said: Our Lord, make the measure between our journeys longer, and they wronged themselves. So We made them narrations and We tore them into pieces. In this are signs for every person who is patient, thankful.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُمْ مِنَّا الْحُسْنَى أُوْلَائِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ
'Inna Al-Ladhīna Sabaqat Lahum Minnā Al-Ĥusná 'Ūlā'ika `Anhā Mub`adūna
As for those who deserved good from Us, they will be removed far away from it.
