he kept or clave to it, he frequented it, resorted to it habitually, he became familiar with it or accustomed/habituated, became sociable/companionable/friendly with him, liked/approved/amicable, protect/safeguard, covenant/obligation involving responsibility for safety. to unite or bring together, state of union/alliance/agreement, to cause union or companionship, to collect/connect/join/conjoin. Become a thousand. A certain rounded number that is well known.

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ أَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلَى حَيَاة ٍ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَة ٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِه ِِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ أَنْ يُعَمَّرَ وَاللَّهُ بَصِير ٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Latajidannahum 'Aĥraşa An-Nāsi `Alá Ĥayāatin Wa Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Ashrakū Yawaddu 'Aĥaduhum Law Yu`ammaru 'Alfa Sanatin Wa Mā Huwa Bimuzaĥziĥihi Mina Al-`Adhābi 'An Yu`ammara Wa Allāhu Başīrun Bimā Ya`malūna
And you will find them the most obsessive people regarding longevity; even more than the polytheists; each one of them wishes that he could live a thousand years. It will not change for him the retribution even if he lived so long, God is watchful over what you do.
2:243
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَهُمْ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ اللَّهُ مُوتُوا ثُمَّ أَحْيَاهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَشْكُرُونَ
'Alam Tara 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Kharajū Min Diyārihim Wa Hum 'Ulūfun Ĥadhara Al-Mawti Faqāla Lahumu Allāhu Mūtū Thumma 'Aĥyāhum 'Inna Allāha Ladhū FaĐlin `Alá An-Nāsi Wa Lakinna 'Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yashkurūna
Did you not see those who left their homes in groups, all the while they were fearful of death; so God said to them: "Die," then He resurrected them. God has bestowed a great grace over the people, but most of the people are not thankful.
3:124
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَنْ يَكْفِيَكُمْ أَنْ يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ بِثَلاَثَةِ آلاَف ٍ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ مُنْزَلِينَ
'Idh Taqūlu Lilmu'uminīna 'Alan Yakfiyakum 'An Yumiddakum Rabbukum Bithalāthati 'Ālāfin Mina Al-Malā'ikati Munzalīna
When you said to the believers: "Is it not enough for you that your Lord would supply you with three thousand of the angels sent down?"
3:125
بَلَى إِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا وَيَأْتُوكُمْ مِنْ فَوْرِهِمْ هَذَا يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ بِخَمْسَةِ آلاَف ٍ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ
Balá 'In Taşbirū Wa Tattaqū Wa Ya'tūkum Min Fawrihim Hādhā Yumdidkum Rabbukum Bikhamsati 'Ālāfin Mina Al-Malā'ikati Musawwimīna
Indeed, if you are patient and are righteous and they come and attack you, He will supply you with five thousand of the angels battle trained.
8:9
إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُمْ بِأَلْف ٍ مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ
'Idh Tastaghīthūna Rabbakum Fāstajāba Lakum 'Annī Mumiddukum Bi'alfin Mina Al-Malā'ikati Murdifīna
You called on help from your Lord and He answered you: "I will provide you with one thousand angels as defenders."
8:65
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ إِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَابِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَة ٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفا ً مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْم ٌ لاَ يَفْقَهُونَ
Yā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu ĤarriĐi Al-Mu'uminīna `Alá Al-Qitāli 'In Yakun Minkum `Ishrūna Şābirūna Yaghlibū Miā'atayni Wa 'In Yakun Minkum Miā'atun Yaghlibū 'Alfāan Mina Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi'annahum Qawmun Lā Yafqahūna
O prophet, urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty of you who are patient, they will defeat two hundred. And if there are one hundred of you, they will defeat one thousand from among those who reject; that is because they are a people who do not understand.
8:66
الآنَ خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفا ً فَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَة ٌ صَابِرَة ٌ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ أَلْف ٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Al-'Āna Khaffafa Allāhu `Ankum Wa `Alima 'Anna Fīkum Đa`fāan Fa'in Yakun Minkum Miā'atun Şābiratun Yaghlibū Miā'atayni Wa 'In Yakun Minkum 'Alfun Yaghlibū 'Alfayni Bi'idhni Allāhi Wa Allāhu Ma`a Aş-Şābirīna
Now, God has alleviated for you, for He knows that there is weakness in you. If there are one hundred of you who are patient, they will defeat two hundred. And if there are one thousand of you, they will defeat two thousand with the permission of God. God is with the patient.
8:66
الآنَ خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفا ً فَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَة ٌ صَابِرَة ٌ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ أَلْف ٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Al-'Āna Khaffafa Allāhu `Ankum Wa `Alima 'Anna Fīkum Đa`fāan Fa'in Yakun Minkum Miā'atun Şābiratun Yaghlibū Miā'atayni Wa 'In Yakun Minkum 'Alfun Yaghlibū 'Alfayni Bi'idhni Allāhi Wa Allāhu Ma`a Aş-Şābirīna
Now, God has alleviated for you, for He knows that there is weakness in you. If there are one hundred of you who are patient, they will defeat two hundred. And if there are one thousand of you, they will defeat two thousand with the permission of God. God is with the patient.
22:47
وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَلَنْ يُخْلِفَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَه ُُ وَإِنَّ يَوْماً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ كَأَلْفِ سَنَة ٍ مِمَّا تَعُدُّونَ
Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa Lan Yukhlifa Allāhu Wa`dahu Wa 'Inna Yawmāan `Inda Rabbika Ka'alfi Sanatin Mimmā Ta`uddūna
And they seek you to hasten the retribution; and God will not break His promise. And a day with your Lord is like one thousand of the years which you count.
29:14
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحا ً إِلَى قَوْمِه ِِ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَة ٍ إِلاَّ خَمْسِينَ عَاما ً فَأَخَذَهُمُ الطُّوفَانُ وَهُمْ ظَالِمُون
Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi Falabitha Fīhim 'Alfa Sanatin 'Illā Khamsīna `Āmāan Fa'akhadhahumu Aţ-Ţūfānu Wa Hum žālimūn
And We had sent Noah to his people, so he stayed with them one thousand years less fifty. Then the flood took them while they were wicked.
32:5
يُدَبِّرُ الأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْم ٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ~ ُ أَلْفَ سَنَة ٍ مِمَّا تَعُدُّونَ
Yudabbiru Al-'Amra Mina As-Samā'i 'Ilá Al-'ArĐi Thumma Ya`ruju 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqdāruhu 'Alfa Sanatin Mimmā Ta`uddūna
He arranges matters from the heaven to the earth, then it ascends to Him in a day which is equivalent to one thousand of the years which you count.
37:147
وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ~ ُ إِلَى مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
Wa 'Arsalnāhu 'Ilá Miā'ati 'Alfin 'Aw Yazīdūna
And We sent him to a hundred thousand, or more.
70:4
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْم ٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُه ُُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَة ٍ
Ta`ruju Al-Malā'ikatu Wa Ar-Rūĥu 'Ilayhi Fī Yawmin Kāna Miqdāruhu Khamsīna 'Alfa Sanahin
The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day which is equivalent to fifty thousand years.
97:3
لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْر ٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْر ٍ
Laylatu Al-Qadri Khayrun Min 'Alfi Shahrin
The Night of Decree is better than one thousand months.

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعا ً وَلاَ تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنْتُمْ أَعْدَاء ً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ بِنِعْمَتِهِ~ ِ إِخْوَانا ً وَكُنْتُمْ عَلَى شَفَا حُفْرَة ٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْهَا كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِه ِِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
Wa A`taşimū Biĥabli Allāhi Jamī`āan Wa Lā Tafarraqū Wa Adhkurū Ni`mata Allāhi `Alaykum 'Idh Kuntum 'A`dā'an Fa'allafa Bayna Qulūbikum Fa'aşbaĥtum Bini`matihi 'Ikhwānāan Wa Kuntum `Alá Shafā Ĥufratin Mina An-Nāri Fa'anqadhakum Minhā Kadhālika Yubayyinu Allāhu Lakum 'Āyātihi La`allakum Tahtadūna
And hold firmly to the rope of God, all of you, and do not be separated. And remember the blessing of God upon you when you were enemies and He united your hearts. Then you became, with His blessing, brothers; and you were on the edge of a pit of fire and He saved you from it; it is thus that God clarifies for you His signs that you may be guided.
8:63
وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ لَوْ أَنفَقْتَ مَا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعا ً مَا أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّه ُُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيم ٌ
Wa 'Allafa Bayna Qulūbihim Law 'Anfaqta Mā Fī Al-'ArĐi Jamī`āan Mā 'Allafta Bayna Qulūbihim Wa Lakinna Allāha 'Allafa Baynahum 'Innahu `Azīzun Ĥakīmun
And He made unity between their hearts. And if you had spent all that is on the earth, you would not have united between their hearts, but God united between them. He is Noble, Wise.
8:63

أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُزْجِي سَحَابا ً ثُمَّ يُؤَلِّفُ بَيْنَه ُُ ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُه ُُ رُكَاما ً فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلاَلِه ِِ وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مِنْ جِبَال ٍ فِيهَا مِنْ بَرَد ٍ فَيُصِيبُ بِه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَصْرِفُه ُُ عَنْ مَنْ يَشَاءُ يَكَادُ سَنَا بَرْقِه ِِ يَذْهَبُ بِالأَبْصَارِ
'Alam Tará 'Anna Allāha Yuzjī Saĥābāan Thumma Yu'uallifu Baynahu Thumma Yaj`aluhu Rukāmāan Fatará Al-Wadqa Yakhruju Min Khilālihi Wa Yunazzilu Mina As-Samā'i Min Jibālin Fīhā Min Baradin Fayuşību Bihi Man Yashā'u Wa Yaşrifuhu `An Man Yashā'u Yakādu Sanā Barqihi Yadh/habu Bil-'Abşāri
Do you not see that God drives the clouds, then He joins them together, then He makes them into a stack; so you see the soft rain coming out of them? And He sends down hail from the sky from mountains, so He strikes with it whoever He wills, and He diverts it from whoever He wills; the vivid flash of its lightning almost blinds the eyes.

إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَالْغَارِمِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَاِبْنِ السَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَة ً مِنَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيم ٌ
'Innamā Aş-Şadaqātu Lilfuqarā'i Wa Al-Masākīni Wa Al-`Āmilīna `Alayhā Wa Al-Mu'uallafati Qulūbuhum Wa Fī Ar-Riqābi Wa Al-Ghārimīna Wa Fī Sabīli Allāhi Wa Aibni As-Sabīli FarīĐatan Mina Allāhi Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Ĥakīmun
Indeed, the charities are for the poor, and the needy, and those who work to collect them, and those whose hearts have been united, and to free the slaves, and those in debt, and in the cause of God, and the wayfarer. A duty from God, and God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

106:2
إِيلاَفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ
'Īlāfihim Riĥlata Ash-Shitā'i Wa Aş-Şayfi
The way they cherish the journey of the winter and summer.
