46:2
Revelation of the timeless Book is from Allah, The Almighty, All-Wise.
46:3
WE have not created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, except in [expression of] the Truth, and for a defined term. While those who have disbelieved turn dismissively away from what they are warned of.
46:4
Say, “Have you considered what you invoke short of Allah? Show me what of the earth they have created. Or is there a share in the heavens which belongs to them? Bring me a book [of Scripture] before this one, or a trace of any knowledge if you are truthful.”
46:5
And who is further astray than one who invokes short of Allah, one who cannot respond to him till the Day of Resurrection? And [those they invoke] are oblivious of their supplications.
46:6
And when humankind is gathered, [the ones they falsely invoked] will be foes to them, and they will be repudiators of their worship.
46:7
When OUR telling verses are recited to them, the ones who have disbelieved, say about the Truth, when it reaches them: “This is plain sorcery.”
46:8
Or do they say, “He has fabricated it.” Say, “If I have fabricated it— you own nothing at all for me from Allah.”
HE knows best regarding what you pour yourselves into.
HE suffices as a witness between me and you.
HE is the Forgiving, the ever merciful.
46:9
Say, “I am not unprecedented amongst the Messengers, and I cannot ascertain what will be done with me or with you. I follow nothing but what has been revealed to me, and I am nothing but a plain warner.”
46:10
Say, “Have you considered: If [this Quran] is from Allah, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the children of Israel has testified to one like it, and accordingly has believed in it, the while you have arrogantly denied! Hearken! Allah does not guide the unjust people.”
46:11
Those who have disbelieved, have said of those who have believed, “If it were anything good, they would not have beaten us to it.” And now when they have not been guided by it, they will have to say, “This is an ancient falsehood.”
46:12
And before [this Quran] was the book of Moses, a guidebook and a mercy. This is a validating book in the Arabic language, that it may warn those who have done wrong and give glad tidings to the ones who do good in devotion to God.
46:13
Surely those who have said, “Allah is our
Rabb,” and then stayed steadfast on course— no fear will be upon them, and neither will they grieve.
46:14
Those are the beneficiaries of Paradise, to abide therein— a recompense for what they were doing.
46:15
WE have enjoined upon man goodness with his parents. His mother carried him under distress and delivered him under distress; and the carrying of him and the weaning of him is thirty months. Until when he has attained his full strength and reached forty years, he says, “My
Rabb, keep me firmly anchored, that I give thanks for YOUR blessings which
YOU bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I do right such as
YOU approve of. And grant me righteousness in my progeny. Verily, unto
YOU I have turned in repentance, and I am of the ones who have surrendered to
YOU.”
46:16
Those are the ones from whom
WE are to accept the best of what they did and pass over their misdeeds. [They will be] in the company of the beneficiaries of Paradise. A promise of the Truth which is ever promised to them.
46:17
And he who has said to his parents, “
Phew at you two. Are you really promising me that I will be pulled back out [from the dead], while the generations before me have duly passed away [for good]?” Whereas the two of them seek help from Allah, [fearing for him]: “Your undoing! Believe! Of certain, the promise of Allah is true.” Yet, he says, “This is nothing else but fables of the ancients.”
46:18
Such were the ones upon whom the Word was justified, throughout the communities of
Jinn and humankind which had duly passed away before them. Surely, they were losers.
46:19
And there are ranks for all, [resulting] from what they have done, in order that
WE may fully repay them for their deeds. And they will not be wronged.
46:20
And on a day, the ones who had disbelieved, will be brought to face the fire: “You wasted your wholesome things in your earthly life, and you sought your [own] temporal enjoyment through them. So today you are requited with a punishment of the deserved disgrace because you were defiantly arrogant in the land— without right, and because you were being iniquitous.”
46:21
And recall the brother of
Aad when he warned his people by the Sand Dunes— and the warners did indeed come and go before and after him, “Serve none except Allah. I do indeed fear a punishment of a transcendent day upon you.”
46:22
They said, “Have you come to us to hoodwink us away from our gods? Then bring on that [consequence] which you have warned us of, if you are of the truthful ones.”
46:23
He said, “The knowledge [of it] is only with Allah. I convey to you what I am sent with, but I see that you are a people living ignorantly.”
46:24
So then, when it was time, they saw it as a cloud, advancing toward their valleys. They said, “This is a cloud bearing our showers.” Nay! This is what you had sought to hasten— a wind containing an agonizing punishment within it,
46:25
pulverizing everything by the command of its
Rabb. So their next morning nothing was seen except for their dwellings. Thus, do
WE requite the people guilty of flouting Guidance.
46:26
WE did indeed establish them in a way
WE have not established you. And
WE gave them hearing and sights and intellect. Yet neither their hearing, nor their sights, nor their intellect availed them any, when they were repudiating the Signs of Allah. And they were engulfed by the very thing they were mocking.
46:27
WE did destroy from among the communities in your vicinity and
WE did offer the signs for their taking, to enable them to turn back.
46:28
So then why did they not help— those gods they adopted short of Allah, as a means to get closer [to Allah]? Nay! They had forsaken them. Such was their forged lie and that which they fabricated.
46:29
[There was an occasion] when
WE steered toward
you, a band of
Jinn, who sought to hear the Quran. So, when they attended it, they said, “Listen up.” And when [the recitation] was completed, they headed back to their people as warners.
46:30
They said, “O our people, we have heard a book revealed after Moses, as a validator for what was before it. It guides to the Truth and onto a straight road.
46:31
O our people, respond to Allah’s caller and believe in
him.
HE will forgive you of your trespasses and protect you from an agonizing punishment.
46:32
And whoever does not respond to Allah’s caller— never, by doing so, is he to be thwarter [of God’s will] on earth, and neither does he have a protecting ally other than
HIM. Those [who do not respond to the caller] are in brazen error.”
46:33
Do they not see that Allah is
HE WHO created the heavens and the earth—and not has HE fallen short in their creation— is almightily capable of reviving of the dead? Yes. Of certain,
HE is almightily in control of all things and their measure.
46:34
And on a day the ones who had disbelieved will be presented to the fire: “Is this not the truth?” They said, “Yes indeed by our
Rabb.”
HE said, “Then partake the punishment because you were disbelieving.”
46:35
So, persevere [O Prophet] as had persevered those endowed with the resolve amongst the messengers, and do not seek to hasten [their fate] for them. The day they see what they are promised, it will be as if they had not tarried [on earth] except an hour of a day. A clear conveyance! Then will any be destroyed except the iniquitous ones?
