30:1  Alif. Lãm. Mĩm.
30:2  The Romans have been defeated,
30:3  in the nearest of the lands. And they, after their defeat, shall prevail
30:4  within a few years. Unto Allah belongs the Command, from the very outset, and into the aftermath. And on that day, the believers will rejoice
30:5  in Allah’s victorious help. HE gives victory to whoever HE wills. HE is the almighty, ever merciful.
30:6  [It is] a promise of Allah. And Allah does not break HIS promise, though most of humankind realize not.
30:7  They know of the sensory reality of the earthly life while about the Hereafter they are neglectful.
30:8  Do they not reflect deeply within themselves? HE has not created the heavens and the earth and all that which is between them, except in [expression of] the Truth and for a defined term. And indeed, many men through the ages are stubborn disbelievers of the meeting with their Rabb.
30:9  Do they not travel in the land, so as to observe how the end-fate of the ones before them was? They were greater than them in strength, and they caused the land to yield, and built upon it more than what these ones have built. Their messengers had come to them with telling proofs. So then, not ever is it that Allah does wrong to them, but they were doing wrong to themselves.
30:10  Furthermore, the end-fate of those engaging in ills was the worst, for they had denied the messages of Allah and were deriding them.
30:11  Allah originates Creation, then HE repeats it, then unto HIM you will be returned.
30:12  And on the day the Hour stands arisen, the flouters of divine guidance will be dumbstruck with grief.
30:13  And there are not to be intercessors from amongst their partners. And they will have become disbelievers in their partners.
30:14  And on the day when the Hour stands arisen, that day they will split apart.
30:15  So then, as for the ones who had embraced Faith and had done the right deeds—they will be felicitated in an expansive garden.
30:16  And as for the ones who had disbelieved and had denied OUR signs and the meeting of the Hereafter— those will be arraigned and held in the punishment.
30:17  So then [contemplate that], all glory is Allah’s, each time you reach the evening and each time you enter a new day.
30:18  To HIM belongs the praise in the heavens and the earth, and during the night’s progression, and each time you reach the day’s peak.
30:19  HE brings forth the living from the dead, and HE brings forth the dead from the living, and HE revives the land after its death, and thus will you be brought forth.
30:20  And amongst HIS signs is that HE created you from dust— then wondrously— you are a free willed mortal, widely propagating.
30:21  And amongst HIS signs is that HE created spouses for you from amongst yourselves, so you may come home to them. And HE has placed between you a bond of love and mercy. Surely, in that are [meaningful] signs for a people who reflect.
30:22  And amongst HIS signs is that HE created the skies and the land and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Verily, in that are [instructive] signs for those who seek to know.
30:23  And amongst HIS signs is your sleep in the night and [in the] day, and your quest of HIS bounties. Surely, in that are [loud] signs for a people who listen.
30:24  And amongst HIS signs is that HE shows you the lightning [in the sky], instilling fear and inspiring hope. And HE showers water from the sky, by which HE revives the land after its death. Surely, in that are definite signs for a people who seek to understand.
30:25  And of HIS signs is that the sky and the earth stand dutifully by HIS command. Then when with a single call HE calls you from the land, you shall promptly come forth.
30:26  Unto HIM belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. One and all are obedient to HIM.
30:27  HE is WHO originates Creation, then HE repeats it, and that is the least owed to HIM. Whereas for HIM is the loftiest similitude in the heavens and the earth. HE is almighty, all-wise.
30:28  HE has set forth an example for you in your own context: Do you, from amongst those whom your right hands have possessed, have any partners in what WE have provided for you, so you are equals in it—you fearing them like your fear between yourselves? Thus, do WE distinctly frame the signs, for a people who engage their intellect.
30:29  Nay, those who persist in doing wrong. follow their own whims, bereft of knowledge. So, who can guide one whom Allah leaves astray? For them there are not any helpers.
30:30  So, align your being to the [one true] religion, in quest of the ONE, [trusting] the innateness of Allah, which HE has made native to humankind. There is no altering to Allah’s creation. That is the timelessly correct religion, but most of humankind know not.
30:31  Maintaining recourse to HIM. And be conscious of HIM and maintain the Prayers for anchor and do not be of the polytheists —
30:32  Of those who had split their religion into sects, each partisan group exulting in what is in their domain.
30:33  When an adversity grazes people, they call their Rabb, maintaining recourse to HIM. Then when they get a taste of mercy from HIM, a group of them promptly [go back] to associating partners with their Rabb
30:34  thereby being ungrateful for what WE have given to them. So then, indulge yourselves with the temporal, for soon you are to know.
30:35  Or have WE sent down upon them an authority, so it converses with them about what they have been associating with God?
30:36  When WE give people a taste of mercy they rejoice therein, and if an ill afflicts them because of what their own hands have wrought, they are promptly disheartened.
30:37  Do they not see that Allah expands the provision for whomever HE wills, and HE measures out? Surely, in that are definite signs for a people who believe.
30:38  Give to the ones with claim of kinship and proximity, their rightful due, and to the needy and the wayfarer. That is best for the ones who desire the Face of Allah. And those very ones are the successful ones.
30:39  Whatever you have given out of usurious intent, that it may grow [by acquiring claim] in the [hard-earned] belongings of fellow men, does not grow in the sight of Allah. While that which you give of Zakat, desiring the Face of Allah— those are ones who get to multiply.
30:40  Allah is WHO created you, thereafter HE has sustained you; then HE shall give you death and then bring you back to life. Is there any among your partners who can do any of such things? Limitless is HIS glory, supremely exalted above what they associate with HIM.
30:41  The rot [of wicked greed] has emerged in the land and the sea because of what humankind’s own hands have earned, that HE may let them taste some of what they have done, to enable them to turn back [from their excesses].
30:42  Say, “Traverse the land to observe how the end-fate of the ones before them was.” Most of them were associating partners with God.
30:43  So, align your being to the timelessly correct religion, before comes a day from Allah, against which is no resistance. That day they will only be staring [at their fate]:
30:44  Whosoever had been ungrateful—upon him is to be his ingratitude. And whosoever had acted righteously— for their own selves they facilitate the way
30:45  that from HIS bounty HE may reward those who had believed and had done the right deeds. Hearken! HE does not love the ungrateful.
30:46  And amongst HIS signs is that HE sends the winds, laden with tidings, so that HE may give you a taste of HIS mercy and that the vessels may stream by HIS command— and that you may seek of HIS bounty and to enable you to be grateful.
30:47  WE indeed did send messengers before you unto their peoples, and they came to them with telling proofs. So, [after their share of warnings] WE exacted retribution from the ones who flouted [guidance]. And ever incumbent upon US is help of the believers.
30:48  Allah is HE Who sends the winds to raise a cloud mass, then HE spreads it in the sky howsoever HE wills, and makes it break out [howsoever HE wills]. Then [with a piece over you] you see the rain emerge from within it. Then when HE makes it fall upon whosoever of HIS creatures HE wills, they feel joy, spontaneously!
30:49  Whereas, before the down-pouring upon them— prior to it, they were categorically despondent.
30:50  So, observe the imprints of the mercy of Allah. How HE revives the earth after its death. Surely, that undeniably [is the work of] the Reviver of the dead. HE is in almighty control of all things and their measure.
30:51  And if and when WE send a wind, [as a result of which] they see saffron hues—they thereafter will assuredly cease not being ungrateful.
30:52  So assuredly, you cannot make the dead hear nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn away, about-faced.
30:53  And you cannot in any way be a guide to the blind [of heart] against their error. You can make none hear but one who believes in OUR signs. Such ones are in submission to God.
30:54  Allah is HE WHO created you, [starting off] from weakness. Then, after weakness, HE made you strong, then after strength, weak and grey-haired. HE creates what HE wills, and HE is the ever knowing, the One in almighty control of all things and their measure.
30:55  And on a [set] day, when the Hour stands arisen, the flouters of divine guidance will swear that they tarried not outside an hour. Thus, they were deluded [in life about the imminence of the Hour].
30:56  And the ones who were given the knowledge and the Faith said, “You did indeed tarry in Allah’s record, through to the Day of Resurrection. So now, this here is the Day of Resurrection, but you had [chosen] not to know.”
30:57  So, this day, the pardon pleas of those who persisted in wrong will not avail them and neither will they be asked to redeem themselves.
30:58  WE have propounded in this Quran from every pattern of similitude for men. But if you bring them a sign, the ones who have disbelieved are sure to insist, “You are nothing else but promoters of falsehood.”
30:59  Thus, Allah imprints upon the hearts of those who [choose] to not know.
30:60  So, persevere. Of certain, the promise of Allah is Real, and do not let them deem you light [of resolve and faith]— the ones who lack the conviction of certainty.
