8:1  Now the crowning affirmation to what we are saying is this: we do have such a high priest, who has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in · heaven,
8:2  an officiating priest of holy things and of the true tabernacle · which the Lord put up, not man.
8:3  For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it was necessary for this high priest also to have something to offer.
8:4  So if he had been on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already those who offer the gifts prescribed by the law.
8:5  The place where they serve is a shadowy suggestion · of the heavenly sanctuary, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for he said, “See that you make everything according to the pattern · shown you on the mountain.”
8:6  But as it is, he has obtained a superior ministry, since the covenant of which · he is mediator is better, since it has been enacted on the basis of better promises.
8:7  For if · that first covenant had been blameless, then no occasion would have been sought for a second.
8:8  For finding fault, God says to them, “Behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
8:9  It will not be like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not continue in · my covenant and I abandoned them, says the Lord.
8:10  For this is the covenant that I will establish with the house of Israel after · those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws in · their minds and I will inscribe them on their hearts. · I will be their God and they will be my people.
8:11  And they will not teach each one · his neighbor and each one · his brother saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know me from the least of them to the greatest.
8:12  For I will be gracious toward their iniquities and I will never again remember · their sins.”
8:13  In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
