To become lean, to diminish/decrease/waste away, to be poor, be of want or need, to perforate/pierce/skewer a thing, to remove/transfer/shift, to pick or extract the remains of, put into the interstices of a thing, to spoil or become sour, make wine into vinegar, act as a true and sincere friend, fall short of accomplishing a task, to neglect/omit or leave undone, to absent one's self, produce bad fruit, enter/penetrate or pass through, interrupt or intervene, to be shaky/ loose/ faulty/ defective, to be uncompact/disordered/unsound, to be corrupt or disordered in temperament, to attire with an anklet or pair of anklets, to be old and worn out, to die and leave a gap/ vacancy, to be of habit/ custom, show true and sincere affection/ friendship/ love, to be flawed/imperfect/deficient, to leave one thing for another.

4:125
وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينا ً مِمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَه ُُ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِن ٌ وَاتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفا ً وَاتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلا ً
Wa Man 'Aĥsanu Dīnāan Mimman 'Aslama Wajhahu Lillāhi Wa Huwa Muĥsinun Wa Attaba`a Millata 'Ibrāhīma Ĥanīfāan Wa Attakhadha Allāhu 'Ibrāhīma Khalīlāan

And who is better in the system than the one who submits himself to God, and he is a good doer, and he follows the creed of Abraham in monotheism? And God took Abraham as a friend.

17:73
وَإِنْ كَادُوا لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ الَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِيَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَه ُُ وَإِذا ً لاَتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلا ً
Wa 'In Kādū Layaftinūnaka `Ani Al-Ladhī 'Awĥaynā 'Ilayka Litaftariya `Alaynā Ghayrahu Wa 'Idhāan Lāttakhadhūka Khalīlāan

And they nearly diverted you from what We inspired to you so that you would fabricate something different against Us, and then they would have taken you as a friend!

25:28
يَاوَيْلَتِي لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلاَناً خَلِيلا ً
Yā Waylatī Laytanī Lam 'Attakhidh Fulānāan Khalīlāan

"Woe to me, I wish I did not take so and so as a friend!"

43:67
الأَخِلاَّءُ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوّ ٌ إِلاَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ
Al-'Akhillā'u Yawma'idhin Ba`Đuhum Liba`Đin `Adūwun 'Illā Al-Muttaqīna

Friends on that Day will become enemies of one another, except for the righteous.

9:47
لَوْ خَرَجُوا فِيكُمْ مَا زَادُوكُمْ إِلاَّ خَبَالا ً وَلَأَوْضَعُوا خِلاَلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيم ٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ
Law Kharajū Fīkum Mā Zādūkum 'Illā Khabālāan Wa La'awĐa`ū Khilālakum Yabghūnakumu Al-Fitnata Wa Fīkum Sammā`ūna Lahum Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Biž-žālimīna

Had they gone with you they would have added nothing except disruption, and they would have hurried about seeking to cause for you an ordeal; and there are some among you who listen to them. God is aware of the wicked.

17:5
فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولاَهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادا ً لَنَا أُولِي بَأْس ٍ شَدِيد ٍ فَجَاسُوا خِلاَلَ الدِّيَارِ وَكَانَ وَعْدا ً مَفْعُولا ً
Fa'idhā Jā'a Wa`du 'Ūlāhumā Ba`athnā `Alaykum `Ibādāan Lanā 'Ūlī Ba'sin Shadīdin Fajāsū Khilāla Ad-Diyāri Wa Kāna Wa`dāan Maf`ūlāan

So, when the promise of the first one comes to pass, We would send against you servants of Ours who are very powerful, thus they managed to breach your very homes, and this was a promise which has come to pass.

17:91
أَوْ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّة ٌ مِنْ نَخِيل ٍ وَعِنَب ٍ فَتُفَجِّرَ الأَنهَارَ خِلاَلَهَا تَفْجِيرا ً
'Aw Takūna Laka Jannatun Min Nakhīlin Wa `Inabin Fatufajjira Al-'Anhāra Khilālahā Tafjīrāan

"Or that you have an estate of palm trees and grapes, and you cause gushing rivers to burst through it."

18:33
كِلْتَا الْجَنَّتَيْنِ آتَتْ أُكُلَهَا وَلَمْ تَظْلِمْ مِنْهُ شَيْئا ً وَفَجَّرْنَا خِلاَلَهُمَا نَهَرا ً
Kiltā Al-Jannatayni 'Ātat 'Ukulahā Wa Lam Tažlim Minhu Shay'āan Wa Fajjarnā Khilālahumā Naharāan

Each of the two gardens brought forth its produce, and none failed in the least. And We caused a river to gush through them.

24:43
أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُزْجِي سَحَابا ً ثُمَّ يُؤَلِّفُ بَيْنَه ُُ ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُه ُُ رُكَاما ً فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلاَلِه ِِ وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مِنْ جِبَال ٍ فِيهَا مِنْ بَرَد ٍ فَيُصِيبُ بِه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَصْرِفُه ُُ عَنْ مَنْ يَشَاءُ يَكَادُ سَنَا بَرْقِه ِِ يَذْهَبُ بِالأَبْصَارِ
'Alam Tará 'Anna Allāha Yuzjī Saĥābāan Thumma Yu'uallifu Baynahu Thumma Yaj`aluhu Rukāmāan Fatará Al-Wadqa Yakhruju Min Khilālihi Wa Yunazzilu Mina As-Samā'i Min Jibālin Fīhā Min Baradin Fayuşību Bihi Man Yashā'u Wa Yaşrifuhu `An Man Yashā'u Yakādu Sanā Barqihi Yadh/habu Bil-'Abşāri

Do you not see that God drives the clouds, then He joins them together, then He makes them into a stack; so you see the soft rain coming out of them? And He sends down hail from the sky from mountains, so He strikes with it whoever He wills, and He diverts it from whoever He wills; the vivid flash of its lightning almost blinds the eyes.

27:61
أَمَّنْ جَعَلَ الأَرْضَ قَرَارا ً وَجَعَلَ خِلاَلَهَا أَنْهَارا ً وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزاً أَءِلَه ٌ ٌ مَعَ اللَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ
'Amman Ja`ala Al-'ArĐa Qarārāan Wa Ja`ala Khilālahā 'Anhārāan Wa Ja`ala Lahā Rawāsiya Wa Ja`ala Bayna Al-Baĥrayni Ĥājizāan 'A'ilahun Ma`a Allāhi Bal 'Aktharuhum Lā Ya`lamūna

The One who made the earth a habitat, and He made in it rivers and He made for it stabilizers, and He made between the two seas a barrier. Is there a god with God? No. But most of them do not know.

30:48
اللَّهُ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابا ً فَيَبْسُطُه ُُ فِي السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ وَيَجْعَلُه ُُ كِسَفا ً فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ خِلاَلِه ِِ فَإِذَا أَصَابَ بِه ِِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ~ِ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
Allāhu Al-Ladhī Yursilu Ar-Riyāĥa Fatuthīru Saĥābāan Fayabsuţuhu Fī As-Samā'i Kayfa Yashā'u Wa Yaj`aluhu Kisafāan Fatará Al-Wadqa Yakhruju Min Khilālihi Fa'idhā 'Aşāba Bihi Man Yashā'u Min `Ibādihi 'Idhā Hum Yastabshirūna

God Who sends the winds, so they raise clouds, and He spreads them in the sky as He wishes, then He turns them into joined pieces, then you see the rain drops come forth from their midst. Then when He makes them fall on whoever He wills of His servants, they rejoice!

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْم ٌ لاَ بَيْع ٌ فِيه ِِ وَلاَ خُلَّة ٌ وَلاَ شَفَاعَة ٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ
Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Anfiqū Mimmā Razaqnākum Min Qabli 'An Ya'tiya Yawmun Lā Bay`un Fīhi Wa Lā Khullatun Wa Lā Shafā`atun Wa Al-Kāfirūna Humu Až-žālimūna

O you who believe, spend from what We have provided for you before a Day comes when there is no trade, nor friendship, nor intercession; and the rejecters are the wicked.

قُلْ لِعِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَيُنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ سِرّا ً وَعَلاَنِيَة ً مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْم ٌ لاَ بَيْع ٌ فِيه ِِ وَلاَ خِلاَل ٌ
Qul Li`ibādiya Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Yuqīmū Aş-Şalāata Wa Yunfiqū Mimmā Razaqnāhum Sirrāan Wa `Alāniyatan Min Qabli 'An Ya'tiya Yawmun Lā Bay`un Fīhi Wa Lā Khilālun

Say to My servants who believe, that they should hold the contact prayer, and spend from what provisions We granted them secretly and openly, before a Day comes when there is no trade therein, nor will there be any friends.
