Did they not roam the earth and see how it ended for those before them? They were more powerful than them, and they cultivated the land and they built in it far more than these have built, and their messengers came to them with the proofs. God was not to wrong them, but it was they who wronged themselves.

It was not for the polytheists to maintain the temples of God while they bear witness over their own rejection. For these, their works have fallen, and in the Fire they will abide.

9:18

Rather, the temples of God are maintained by he who believes in God and the Last Day, and he upholds the contact prayer, and he contributes towards purification, and is only concerned by God. It is these that will be of the guided ones.

Have you made the watering of the pilgrim and the maintenance of the Restricted Temple the same as one who believes in God and the Last Day and he strives in the cause of God? They are not the same with God. And God does not guide the wicked people.

Whoever among you is ill or has an affliction to his head, then he may redeem by fasting or giving a charity or a rite. If you are secure, then whoever goes to visit, but decides to continue until the Pilgrimage, he shall provide what offering is affordable; but for he who cannot find anything, then he must fast for three days during the Pilgrimage and seven when he returns; this will make a complete ten; this is for those whose family is not resident at the Restricted Temple. 35:11
Wa Allāhu Khalaqakum Min Turābin Thumma Min Nuţfatin Thumma Ja`alakum 'Azwājāan Wa Mā Taĥmilu Min 'Unthá Wa Lā TaĐa`u 'Illā Bi`ilmihi Wa Mā Yu`ammaru Min Mu`ammarin Wa Lā Yunqaşu Min `Umurihi 'Illā Fī Kitābin 'Inna Dhālika `Alá Allāhi Yasīrun

And God created you from dust, then from a seed, then He made you into pairs. And no female becomes pregnant, nor gives birth, without His knowledge. Nor does anyone have his life extended, or his life is shortened, except in a record. This is easy for God.

2:158
'Inna Aş-Şafā Wa Al-Marwata Min Sha`ā'iri Allāhi Faman Ĥajja Al-Bayta 'Aw A`tamara Falā Junāĥa `Alayhi 'An Yaţţawwafa Bihimā Wa Man Taţawwa`a Khayrāan Fa'inna Allāha Shākirun `Alīmun

Indeed, the stone and the rock outcropping are among the symbols of God. So whoever makes Pilgrimage to the Sanctuary, or is merely passing through, commits no error should he traverse them. And whoever donates for goodness, then God is Thankful, Knowledgeable.

11:61
Wa 'Ilá Thamūda 'Akhāhum Şāliĥāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Allāha Mā Lakum Min 'Ilahin Ghayruhu Huwa 'Ansha'akum Mina Al-'ArĐi Wa Asta`marakum Fīhā Fāstaghfirūhu Thumma Tūbū 'Ilayhi 'Inna Rabbī Qarībun Mujībun

And to Thamud was their brother Saleh. He said: "O my people, serve God, you have no god besides Him. He has established you from the earth, and has made you settle in it; so seek His forgiveness, then repent to Him. My Lord is Near, Responsive."
