55:1  The Gracious God
55:2  HE taught the Qur'an
55:3  HE created man
55:4  And taught him plain speech
55:5  The sun and the moon run their courses according to a fixed reckoning
55:6  And the stemless plants and the trees humbly submit to HIS Will
55:7  And the heaven HE has raised high and set up the measure
55:8  That you may not exceed the measure
55:9  So weigh all things with justice and fall not short of the measure
55:10  And HE has set the earth for HIS creatures
55:11  Therein are all kinds of fruit and palm-tree with sheaths
55:12  And grain with its husk and fragrant plants
55:13  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, O men and jinn, deny
55:14  He created man of dry ringing clay which is like baked pottery
55:15  And the jinn HE created of the flame of Fire
55:16  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:17  The Lord of the two Easts and the Lord of the two Wests
55:18  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:19  HE has made the two bodies of water flow. They will one day meet
55:20  Between them there is at present a barrier; they cannot encroach one upon the other
55:21  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:22  There come out from both of them pearls and coral
55:23  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:24  And HIS are the lofty ships reared aloft on the sea like mountains
55:25  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:26  All that is on earth will pass away
55:27  And there will abide for ever only the Person of thy Lord, Master of Glory and Honour
55:28  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:29  Of HIM do beg all that are in the heavens and the earth. Everyday HE reveals himself in a different state
55:30  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:31  Soon shall WE attend to you, O ye two big groups
55:32  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:33  O company of jinn and men ! if you have power to break through the confines of the heavens and the earth, then break through them. But you cannot break through save with authority
55:34  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:35  There shall be sent against you a flame of fire, and molten copper; and you shall not be able to help yourselves
55:36  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:37  And when the heaven is rent asunder and become red like red hide
55:38  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:39  On that day neither man nor jinn will be asked about his sin
55:40  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:41  The guilty will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet
55:42  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:43  And they will be told: `This is the Hell which the guilty denied
55:44  `Between it and the fierce boiling water will they go round.
55:45  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:46  And for him who fears to stand before his Lord there are two gardens
55:47  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:48  Having many varieties of trees
55:49  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:50  In each of them there are two fountains flowing freely
55:51  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:52  Therein will be every kind of fruit in pairs
55:53  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:54  The inmates thereof will recline on couches over carpets, the linings of which will be of thick brocade. And the fruit of the two Gardens will be within their easy reach
55:55  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:56  Therein will also be chaste maidens restraining their glances, whom neither man nor jinn will have touched before them
55:57  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:58  As if they were rubies and small pearls
55:59  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:60  Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness
55:61  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:62  And besides these two, there are two other gardens
55:63  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:64  Dark green with foliage
55:65  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:66  Therein also will be two springs, gushing forth with water
55:67  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:68  In both of them there will be all kinds of fruit, and dates and pomegranates
55:69  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:70  Therein will be maidens, good and beautiful.
55:71  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:72  Fair maidens with lovely black eyes, guarded in pavilions
55:73  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:74  Whom neither man nor jinn will have touched before them
55:75  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:76  Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets
55:77  Which, then, of the favours of your Lord will ye twain, deny
55:78  Blessed is the name of thy Lord, Master of Glory and Honour
