AYAH al-Imran 3:178

Arabic وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنَّمَا نُمْلِي لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ لِّأَنفُسِهِمْ إِنَّمَا نُمْلِي لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِثْمًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ zoom
Transliteration Wala yahsabanna allatheena kafaroo annama numlee lahum khayrun li-anfusihim innama numlee lahum liyazdadoo ithman walahum AAathabun muheenun zoom
Literal

  And (let) not think those who disbelieved that We give respite to them (is) good for themselves. Only We give respite to them so that they may increase (in) sins, and for them (is) a punishment humiliating. zoom


Generally Accepted Translations of the Meaning
Muhammad Asad And they should not think - they who are bent on denying the truth - that Our giving them rein is good for them: We give them rein only to let them grow in sinfulness; and shameful suffering awaits them. zoom
